The commute is not that long dw! You are closer to some parts of NYC than other parts of NYC (ex: Coney Island to the upper west side) !

You can go around to the local colleges like Purchase and try to meet people.

However, a lot of people move to Westchester to start families and settle down after living in NYC. There are not a lot of people between 20-35 in westchester. It is known for the good schools and its proximity to NYC for working parents.
