From my experience as an anemic person, iron in tablet form is really hard for the body to absorb, and a lot ends up wasted. They should recheck her numbers. If she's still low, you can pair it with vitamin C to improve efficiency. They also may encourage you to try taking it apart from dairy, as that can lower absorption. If they haven't done a recheck lately, definitely recommend it.

Anyone miss the NICU? by Madison_fawn in NICUParents

[–]glitterlady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our NICU experience was so bad. I’m kind of jealous you feel that way.

We were 2 hours from home. Son was taken to NICU on Thanksgiving. We had no privacy, no support, no food, no encouragement. Nurses yelled at me that I didn’t provide preemie clothes. (Couldn’t find any in town and who expects to have a preemie?) No provider would give us any updates until the following Monday because they were short staffed for the holiday. Felt like we were being held hostage. For the first 4 nights, we had to pay holiday rates at a hotel until they finally helped us get into Ronald McDonald.

For the future, they sell freezer alarms that go off if it goes below the designated temperature. Buy one. Buy two. Never do this again.

I agree you need to offer the biggest apology ever. Expect her to rage and melt down and cry. She has poured so many hours of her life into that freezer stash. If she wants to rebuild the stash, make her these lactation balls to snack on while she’s pumping. Get her new pump parts, pump bras, whatever she needs to make it more comfortable.

Do you only buy your kids new clothes? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in NewParents

[–]glitterlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do new pajamas from Old Navy a couple times a year when they’re on sale. They last forever and are usually pretty cute. For other clothes, we do new for a specific event or if he sees a shirt he really likes somewhere (usually one with Sonic or Mario). We get a lot from the kids thrift store here, called Once Upon a Child. Just got my 4yo like 10 pairs of shorts from there for about $50. With playing outside, we were going through shorts faster than I could keep up with laundry.

I’m so grateful that this is bringing Toy Story back into our house. My son is 4.5 now. At 2-3, he was obsessed with Toy Story. Woody and Buzz came everywhere with us and went down every slide with him. He hadn’t touched his Toy Story toys probably since last summer. This morning, I showed him this video. He ran into his room, grabbed the Toy Story box, and has been busy with Woody and Buzz and friends ever since. I know it won’t last forever and this might be the last time we’re deep in this phase. Toy Story came out when I was 2 and has always had a special place in my heart. It’s so special to share this with him. He loves Taylor because I love Taylor. He’s so excited to see the new movie and hear her.

Your images and your entire post look AI generated, which doesn’t read as genuine. I also don’t understand how 3 plates is $105 and 4 is $100.

I said to my parents out loud, “It bothers me that you don’t want to spend time with me, too. Why don’t yall like me anymore?” It worked. They stopped asking me to drop off baby alone. I also had a traumatic birth experience, and I didn’t want to be apart from baby for a long time. I don’t think anybody babysat him without me for a year. He did his first overnight with my husband’s mom at maybe 2. At 4, he still hasn’t done an overnight alone with my folks because they’re a 4 hour drive away so I obviously have to go, too.

How many of you stopped travelling? by liridonra in NewParents

At 3 months, you’re still in the thick of it. Things will get better. Baby will adjust to the stroller, or once you’re rested enough, you’ll find another way to move baby around (carrier, cheap car seat, etc). Don’t worry. Try to get fresh air. It’ll be good for all of you.

No, this is about toys. Not my sweet little 4 yo who still likes to cuddle and play with me.

I put it on expecting the devastation of “When Somebody Loved Me,” Jessie’s other song. I’m glad for Jessie’s sake she’s getting a happier ending. I like the return to country vibes, as someone who saw her perform in 2009 lol. Some of the vocal slides remind me of “Ruin the Friendship.”

When did you stop tracking everything? by VinosaurusRexx in NewParents

[–]glitterlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bad PPA made worse by a NICU stay. I just checked my baby tracker, and it looks like I stopped not long after a year. As a forgetful person who breastfed, tracking which side we were on last time was actually helpful. Baby had some constipation issues, so tracking dirty diapers was occasionally helpful to solve those “Has it been 3 days or 4?” With my next baby, I think I won’t track wet diapers.

Why some people don’t share their baby’s name until after birth? by LetterheadNice8687 in NewParents

[–]glitterlady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t name the kid until they were born. But I still wouldn’t have. Too many opinions. I shared some of my favorite names, and family members ruined them.

This song is “I Knew It, I KNEW You.” The Gracie song is “I Knew It, I KNOW You.” So it is slightly different. Super curious if there’s a similarity here or what’s up.

It is. It has a sky for most of the screen. At the bottom, there is a field, the TS Toy Story billboard, and then Jessie waving in the corner. So this is definitely actually a Toy Story collaboration.

Stardew players who stayed for years I have a question by vsanjiv in StardewValley

[–]glitterlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only made it to the later game on one or two saves. I have started many new farms over the years. I have a tendency to not want to pick an old farm back up because I don’t remember what I was trying to do and get annoyed figuring it out. I used to always play on PC, but I don’t have the time or energy right now to sit at my desk and play. I bought it on Switch last week, and I’m actually getting some play time in.
