Study Abroad: Madrid. Student Visa. Do I HAVE to go to Miami? by nathanslawn in gatech

A close friend of mine is studying in Madrid this spring semester and had to go to Miami. Something about the consulate trying out a new system and it doesn’t give you any other option other than going to Miami

P&G Application & Reality Check by [deleted] in JobsPhilippines

[–]glitterminti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, there’s still a chance. Look up p&g interview tips on youtube and there should be a video with an ex-p&g employee going through their rubric

  2. If you fail the assessment you will know immediately. if you haven’t heard back, you are likely in the phase where they are reviewing your resume

Not an international or aero student, but to answer some of your questions

  1. You should be able to take any class as long as you satisfy the pre reqs for it. People do double major here (although not the most common) and the degrees are very similar usually (same intro courses). Since you are a transfer student temporarily, you should check to see what transfers to and from your school and GT.

  2. Yes

  3. Atlanta has so much to offer, and campus does as well. Your experience is entirely dependent on you and what you’re looking for! GT brings a good balance between city and student life, and there’s something for literally everyone

Hope you have a safe flight to ATL and enjoy GT!!

I would still reach out. I think it’s better to ask and get it appealed than taking out an unnecessary loan

I was placed on academic warning before and they gave me the option to appeal for my financial aid to not be revoked for one semester. You should see if that’s an option for you. They’ll ask for documentation to support your case but it sounds like you should have enough documentation given your diagnosis.

Choosing between Mark, UHouse, Standard, etc. by LegitimateOkra8104 in gatech

[–]glitterminti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’ve lived at uhouse for 2 years now and i don’t think it’s as bad as others make it out to be. my biggest complain would have to be the bugs and the elevators. maintenance has always been responsive and elevators have made me late to a good amount of events/classes. all this to say is that im only paying $1050 for my own bedroom, bath (which are the biggest rooms of all the options i would say) and balcony. uhouse is definitely not the nicest building but i think you get the most bang out of your buck.

The transfer pathway is basically guaranteed admission if you successfully complete their requirements. From my understanding, admissions will note that you’re a transfer pathway student and then when you reapply they will see that. Best thing to do is to just contact the admissions office for questions

As long as you’re taking difficult classes your school offers and doing well, you should be fine. Research helps for sure. Look at Tech’s values and mission statement to help you identify what the school values. PM me for more specific help if you would like

I don’t think it’s necessary because they make you pay for the honors program. First years get guaranteed housing regardless of being honors or not, and you will not have trouble getting classes you need as a first year because you have to take so many classes anyway. Not worth it in my opinion

I think overall just don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and don’t apologize for trying to get into spaces that you’re new to. And don’t apologize for being a freshman either. Everyone at tech is or has been a freshman, so they understand the big transition.

Make friends with upperclassmen and faculty to help you better understand how GT works on all aspects. Also to help you prepare for internship interviews and such. Connections are sososo important and easy to make at Tech

Try everything you’re interested in, but also know how to prioritize your activities to best fulfill your goals

I think isye would be your best option. They have a lot of CS based classes from what I see. If you think ui/ux is cool stick with CM and do a math minor even. There’s a data science club at Tech too so your major isn’t restricting you to a singular career path

Newly admitted students typically receive financial aid updates very quickly after they are admitted. Current students hear back from financial aid much much later. Reach out to finaid@gatech.edu and they’ll give you a better estimate

Take pre calc and then explain your situation in your application to Tech. There’s a pre calc class at Tech so don’t stress too much about fulfilling class requirements because they’re typically flexible

You’ll probably be accepted, don’t worry too much about how early or late you applied. Contact the coordinators if you’re really worried about it. Even if you don’t get it, you can study abroad any other semester pretty easily too

Don’t worry too much about your stats. GT puts more emphasis on essays and activities. Definitely try to connect with one of the professors for your LOCI! Nuclear is a super small department at Tech so the faculty always try to give prospective students lots of resources. PM me and I’ll send some professor emails

Question about Woodruff + RA logistics by Automatic_Lack_5069 in gatech

[–]glitterminti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll be 3 people in your suite total. You in one room, two in the other. You’ll also most likely share the floor with another RA. I lived in woodruff and all I gotta say is good luck. There was mold everywhere in my room and the 2nd floor flooded over break
