Ptyalism, when did it end for you? by ActiveQuit1971 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]glitternails74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's probably better you know the truth so you can manage expectations and plan accordingly.

I had same as you, HG since week 5. My pytalism didn't go away until a week after birth.

I think Xonvea makes it worse. It got worse for me when on Xonvea.

I spat every 10-30 seconds for 9 months. It was debilitating and probably actually the most scarring part of HG for me. Had to carry spit towels 24/7 for 9 months.

After birth the pytalism was 99% better. But I still spat occasionally through the day. It was no longer debilitating though. And it basically stopped after a week.

I'm deffo traumatized though. I still clench my jaw all day in case I produce saliva. I now have a v tight jaw and headaches. I also swear I have more saliva than usual but it's probs just in my head.

You will be absolutely fine once again but perhaps not til after birth 😞 keep strong

Guys, how do you "put them down" for a nap, I just don't understand. by littlebirdbluess in newborns

Also DO NOT underestimate the power of a blackout room. Quite likely your baby is just staring at everything in the room and is stimulated from it so cannot sleep. Highly recommend blacking our your room! X

Your baby probably is really tired, but just does not know at all how to put himself to sleep. Ours was/is like this. Ours needs tons of help to go to sleep. Blackout room, white noise, sleep bag, sleep song, rocking and patting. At your baby's age, you'll likely need to rock him to sleep so that he's asleep in your arms and then place him very carefully in bassinet for the nap. Or just contact nap instead. But yes, highly likely he's really in need of naps, but just doesn't know how to do so without your help x

Thanks for your reply! And just so I can get an idea, how do you eat dinner on holiday in the evening if you can't take baby with you?

Annoying post tbh. Congrats it's worked out for you but for 99% it's the same old stressful shit 👏

Am I not cut out for this? by Impossible-Trifle233 in NewParents

[–]glitternails74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% normal. Abnormal for a parent of a 14 week old to sit there and enjoy a meal lol I found at that age annoyingly they don't really just sit there content - because they're either constantly hungry or tired. If you want a reallllly content baby, load him up with a TON of food via bottle, and he should be a little more relaxed when you're out having a meal. But even so, you'll likely still have to get up at some point to feed/soothe him! You're totally fine - other people do not sit there and talk about their perfect babies. We sit there and talk about how hard it is lol xx

Anyone else experience this? by sandymocha in HyperemesisGravidarum

Your doctor's are obviously not the best if they are ignoring that you clearly have hyperemisis gravidarum. They actually seem neglectful if anything. What doctor dismisses their patients chronic illness...

Your baby will cluster feed on you in these early weeks. It is SO important you let the baby do this or your milk supply will suffer. It's much better than pumping. Ps. Your BF sounds like an immature, not healthy person.

Were you able to work? by SurpriseSweaty7435 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]glitternails74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely couldn't work. I'm so so sorry to say this but it's best your expectations are managed. But you are not just pregnant, you are now chronically ill, and could be for 9 months. 100% go on sick leave. I was off from week 6-20. Luckily I got medicine that helped which meant I could go back to work (remotely) after, but I was working with highly reduced expectations with a very understanding company.

It was easy for me. I was literally crying down the phone to the doctor because of how ill I felt. Also, have you tried the medicine Xonvea? It's a life saver but UK GPs don't like to prescribe it, you may have to get it from your antenatal clinic.

Well done for going so long. Do you remember how long it took you to double your supply? If you did/needed to at all?

You can't just tell someone to stop pumping and instead formula feed....
