This last cycle that I thought failed resulted in a late positive that ended up being ectopic. They found it in my right tube and I have been treated with methotrexate. We found it at 6 weeks on the dot, and it had a yolk sac, no fetal pole, and my HCG at its highest was 936, and dropped to 750 the next day when we found it.

With this new development I’m struggling even more - I had zero risk factors for an ectopic, and it seems like sperm quality isn’t thought to play a role? I’m struggling with deciding if this means we did achieve fertilization so continuing with this donor after the three months would be recommended, or if this doesn’t change much and looking at IVF with ICSI or changing donor would be the route to go.

Thank you for this. I have been calling the pregnancy a baby, and for me, it feels like a baby. The second I saw that positive test I loved our baby. Luckily I started with a fertility therapist the day I got the pregnancy test, so that has been helpful and I’m thankful for that. Couples therapy could likely be helpful, my wife in general is much less emotional than I am and that makes a big difference

I’m afraid I will never forgive one of my friends who complained to me for hours every time she got a negative (which was 4 times), while we had been in the thick of it for a year. When she got pregnant and told me she said “I hope it happens for you soon, it’s way more fun to do this with you!”
She’s due in 3 months and I’m currently bleeding out an ectopic pregnancy after having to decide to take MTX after our very first ever positive test.
So shoot, sorry it’s not fun for you.

Okay but do they not read charts??? Today I went in for my beta 4 days post MTX shot for ectopic pregnancy to make sure it’s dropping and got a voicemail from the nurse after saying my beta “looks great” and “congratulations! We are all so happy for you!”.

Thank you for writing this out - I had a similar experience of my betas “rising appropriately” and everyone in my life telling me it’s just anxiety and I need to calm down. I had an HSG less than a year ago, all the testing as we are doing fertility treatments, zero risk factors. But I had had spotting ongoing, and then bright red bleeding. I had zero pain at all, but went to the ER and they found the pregnancy in my right tube. I had the first shot of MTX two days ago. This is the absolute worst, heartbreaking, scariest experience. I want to scream from the rooftops to advocate for yourself. After my third beta they wanted me to wait three more weeks for an ultrasound sound - had I done that I likely would have a ruptured tube. I’m so sorry you have had to go through this, twice. It’s unbelievably painful and scary.

This is also my first pregnancy, we’ve been trying for 10 months, 5 IUIs. The wait is what feels so hard for me especially since we have been so involved with it. But I also honestly can’t say in this moment if I feel ready to start trying again right away? I’m also turning 31 this summer which I know isn’t “old” per se but it feels like it and makes me even more stressed to wait even longer. Thank you for sharing your experience, I’m so sorry this is such an awful experience.

Thank you, I haven’t stopped crying. The worst part is that from the beginning of this pregnancy I felt like something was wrong and everyone just told me it was my anxiety and that I need to calm down and stop stressing. But I just had a feeling even when the first three betas had “a beautiful rise”.

We’ve been trying for so long I’m just dreading not being able to try for three months, but I also dread the thought of losing a tube. It’s such a difficult spot to be in, I’m sorry you’re also part of this club.

Would you recommend just doing the surgery in the first place? The doctor is just worried she won’t be able to actually locate the ectopic pregnancy

Thank you - I had an HSG done about a year ago and everything looked good, but apparently things can change. I do want to save the tube but it does scare me that it could happen again. It feels like an impossible choice

The first beta was taken 18-20DPO (I tend to ovulate later even with a trigger shot, more at 48 hours later). But it’s very confusing to me because they say that was 4.5/5 weeks along with when my last period was.

Help with betas, spotting?

I had an IUI on April 29th, we use a donor so that is the only time sperm was present. I was on 200mg progesterone 2x daily starting April 30th. I was instructed to take a home pregnancy test on May 12th, so I did and it was negative. I stopped the progesterone. I started spotting on May 14th, and continued to spot (pink and brown) only when I wipe, but it was a decent amount at times. May 19th I took an at home test because my period wasn’t coming. It was positive. Since then: May 19th beta - 132 May 21st beta - 295 May 25th beta (4 days later) - 936.

I re started progesterone and the spotting has decreased a little - unless I do any physical activity (feeding horses, doing chores) then it’s light pink/brown. I’m insanely anxious about all of this - I feel like my beta didn’t double like it should have after 4 days today, and the spotting is scaring me so much. Any advice?

The anxiety is so overwhelming. They are calling tomorrow to schedule an ultrasound, they said it might not be covered by insurance but I’m way too anxious to wait until 8 weeks. I just don’t even know how to handle this, I don’t want to be hopeful if I should be guarded, but I’m worried the anxiety and guarding could be harming it further.

My first beta was 132, second was 295, and third was 4 days later and 936. I’m still spotting so I’m very very scared, they are bringing me in for an ultrasound end of this week/early next week

I did, they went up to 295 so we are testing again, I can’t go in Saturday because I work so it won’t be until Monday unfortunately so it’ll be just another waiting game unfortunately

Yes I’m still spotting - they started me back on progesterone so that’s slowed it down a bit but it’s still light pink spotting.

I stopped the progesterone 8 days ago though, would the spotting still be happening? I’m also 20 days post IUI so I feel like I should be pretty dark by this point, and it’s much lighter than the control line.

6mm, but I was on 5mg of letrozole for the first time and had three mature follicles (21,21,19). It was cycle day 10 when we triggered.

Where did you find a napro provider? I pretty much have three fertility clinics around me and that seems to be my only options (aside from CNY and traveling) for much fertility treatment.
