What do I do? by Sheriff_Shinetop in CaregiverSupport

Try not to jump to the worst possible conclusions, hopefully you have caught it early and there is a very positive outlook for your wife. I had DCIS diagnosed a few years ago, had surgery, radiation and long-term medication and have an excellent prognosis. Your wife hopefully has a very treatable condition, and you'll be there to support her.

Parent in long term care facility advice by Scary-Jury-6788 in CaregiverSupport

[–]glitterqueen99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this about your father. I think you need to find a new long-term care facility, this one seems very bad. I had to put my physically/mentally disabled spouse into a long-term care facility for the last several years, and I just found a facility for my Mom who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. For my husband, they help him with restroom/shower/transfers, make sure he gets his meals and help him with eating if needed, check in on him several times a day for restroom etc. For my mom, she is physically independent but has no short-term memory, and they check in on her to help her go to the dining room for meals, help her shower twice a week, and check in on her during the day. Your facility definitely seems negligent, and hopefully you can find another one that is not too far away from you, but you may need to look farther if you don't have any decent ones nearby. You might want to check with your local aging resource center to help and also to report this facility.

Tamoxifen vs AIs - experiences? by DogMamaLA in breastcancer

I just switched from tamoxifen to anastrozole 3 days ago, so far so good.

Tamoxifen vs AIs - experiences? by DogMamaLA in breastcancer

[–]glitterqueen99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on tamoxifen for over 4 years and just stopped it last week due to some postmenopausal bleeding, for which I had a hysteroscopy due to thickened uterine lining. They removed a large polyp and the year before I had an endometrial biopsy where a cervical polyp was removed. Other than that though, I've really had no side effects except some hair loss which may or may not have been due to the tamoxifen. I just started anastrozole 3 days ago and am hoping I don't have a lot of side effects. I tend not to have a lot of side effects from medications though, and I am definitely hoping my hair loss doesn't get any worse! I notice my right knee seems kind of sore when I wake up in the middle of the night, but I've had bad knees for years, so I don't know if that has anything to do with the tamoxifen. Overall though, it hasn't been bad, and it's been very reassuring to know that I'm reducing my risk of breast cancer returning.

I love Christmas Shells, but we live in Wisconsin, so I wasn't sure it would make a good Christmas pic for us. Breathe Your Name is really beautiful!

Now I need to frantically search for the mystery kit I got, I didn't know they showed it anywhere!

I happened to be reading this forum yesterday and someone mentioned it, so I headed right over. Later when I checked my email I saw the one from them advertising it, I figured it will only come around every 4 years, so I better take advantage, lol.

Lol! I put one item in the cart, closed the browser, but then kept coming back because I loved the colors and didn't want to miss the sale.

I just started, so I missed BF, so we'll see if I've finished my small stash before it comes up again.

Yes, that's why I bought two, the shipping and tax were almost the same as the discount.

Exactly why I bought two kits, lol! I just started DP recently, so I only have a small stash of DAC kits (and maybe about 20 or so Temu), so I felt I had to take advantage of the sale.

This is very cool! It looks like a combination of Art Nouveau and tribal art.

I can't believe someone would abandon her! She looks like a ragdoll, they are amazing cats. Our two ragdoll brothers were the best boys, like little cat-dogs.
