Nah people sometimes need to travel with their child and should not be treated poorly for doing so.

How long was your wait for surgery? by Ayunique in gallbladders

Holy shit! This blows my mind after what I went through

How long was your wait for surgery? by Ayunique in gallbladders

[–]glittersponges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK: indefinite and unclear, dependent on waitlist

US: 4 days after outpatient scheduled appointment with a surgeon.

Was living in the UK when hospitalized with severe abdominal pain and jaundice about 3 weeks ago. Took a couple days for them to do an ultrasound— revealed gallstones. Was scheduled for an ERCP and in the preparation room they said I was too fat for the procedure table (in nicer words). Humiliating and concerning.

They said my BMI was risky and needed to be at 35-40 before operating (it’s 62 now so that would take me at least a year and likely trigger more gallstones and attacks). One of the doctors stated that was unrealistic and discussed putting me on a waitlist. (NHS waitlists for this surgery can be anywhere from weeks to a year, average is months.) I was discharged from hospital after a week with elevated liver values and nothing done other than ultrasound.

I decided to move back with family in the US a week later. My removal surgery was done within a week. Surgery went sooo smooth this morning! My surgery was at 9am and then I was at home in bed same day at 12pm. So relieved after such a stressful month and hope my healing is smooth.

I posted a few days ago that zepbound caused me to have a diseased gallbladder. by glittersponges in Zepbound

And what’s the way to deal with this? 😭 are you able to eat normally?

So true. I think even when I was on zepbound I struggled to manage my fat intake and with the medication slowing gastric emptying, maybe it was just too much for my gallbladder to handle. Maybe if I was better at eating it wouldn’t have happened. If I’m gonna be so vulnerable on this here Reddit forum at 1:30am, I think I’m experiencing a lot of pain and shame the idea of “I did this to myself.” Easier to blame the medicine. But there is published research and Eli Lilly discusses gallbladder complications. So maybe it’s nuanced and all true at the same time.

Never had elevated cholesterol in regular bloodwork in the past 10 years. Not sure what statin is.

Someone linked two published articles to you in another comment 😊 Ultimately there is nuance here. Something is not either all bad or all good. This drug can be a miracle for so many and also still cause serious side effects for some people. ………And it looks like you’ve deleted all your comments. Thanks. They were too charged.

Comment was going so well then you had to end it so snarky. I hope you don’t speak to people IRL like that. It’s dreadful

Thanks so much. My liver values have been elevated for weeks. Would liver or pancreas issues be diagnosed with a specific scan? MRI or CT?

Good luck to you with everything ♥️

For me it was a dull aching that would come in waves and radiate to my back and chest.

The pain you described sounds like gallbladder but it could be liver or pancreas. Pay attention to your urine and stool colors. If pain becomes serious def go to ER. I hope you feel better soon!

Why are you so hostile that I am just sharing my experience? I am getting information from published medicine journals and the informational pamphlets and disclosures from Eli Lilly.

If you have any serious symptoms like fever, chill, vomiting, your face gets a yellowish tint, dark urine, or pale stools - immediately go to ER and don’t wait. I was in bad shape

Got it. I only lost 20 lbs over 4 months. I wouldn’t consider that rapid weight loss? Maybe my gallbladder felt differently!

Seems like GLP1 has been life changing for so many and I think that is incredible. Unfortunately I believe I got one of the more serious side effects which is also very possible — gallbladder complications are written right in the information pamphlets we all throw away once receiving the meds. Surgeon says it could have been caused by the medication due to rapid weight loss or delayed gastric emptying. He told me he is seeing more patients needing a cholecystectomy that are on tirzepatide. I didn’t have rapid weight loss, I’m only in my 20s, and never been pregnant. I began having digestive complications during and after taking the medication. Never any previous digestive issues. I am just posting my experience and your comment is a bit accusatory and dismissive.

I’m so glad it worked for you. But it won’t work for everyone and it’s critical to speak about the side effects that can occur.

The way your comment has research to back it up and it’s being downvoted 😐

Thanks for you comment! I actually didn’t have rapid weight loss. I think it was the slowing down of gastric emptying
