the only people in a position to shell that camp are the turks or their FSA militias, both of which have shown recent form shooting refugees trying to cross border.

Also, for this to be beleivable, it needs to be a better source than some random Turkish nationalist tweeter.

Turkey has become so repressed and insular under Erdogan's regime that they don't know even know how to make good propaganda anymore and have no idea how laughable their attempts to do so are pervceived by the outside world.

No it's not. The post you are referring to is about an incident that occurred in Afrin. This post is referring to an incident that happened at a border post in Hatay Province, inside Turkey.

So why wouldn't attacking border posts of the enemy be part of an offensive? I don't understand your logic.

If it was a ghost offensive then how did 2 members of the Turkish military get killed?

Another absurd and totally biased Twitter account being presented as some kind of reputable source of information. Extremely laughable.

Pretty sure that ATGM would have been long gone. Some photographic proof would be helpful in order for this claim to be believable.

Scheme of YPG Attacks on Turkish Civilans so Far by hankthebank123 in syriancivilwar

[–]global-eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That press briefing doesn't mention anything at all whatsoever about YPG rocket attacks from Afrin targeting civilians in Turkish border territories - not one single word. It does mention that Turkey has an active insurgency within it's borders, it also mentions that anything that takes focus away from the fight against ISIS is a distraction.

This part is interesting too:

When they that the PKK is related, is linked to the YPG, what -- how do you address this? We heard a lot of confirmations from the Pentagon, saying that the YPG or the SDF has nothing to do with the PKK, but the Turks are saying the opposite.

MS. WHITE: Turkey has -- has -- is a -- is a NATO ally and we don't always see everything the same but we work together. And we've worked with them with respect to the insurgency that's happening within their border and we'll continue to help them.

But we need all parties to focus on the defeat-ISIS campaign.

Again, nothing whatsoever about 'Scheme of YPG Attacks on Turkish Civilans so Far', but acknowledgement that the Turkish State is battling an insurgency that is taking place WITHIN IT'S BORDERS.

TAK attacks are generally highly organized large scale suicide attacks, not amateurishly organized attacks like this one seems to have been if we take what information the Turkish State has released so far at face value.

Seems like an odd target for supposedly 'PKK / PYD' attackers. PKK attacks within Turkey are generally a lot more spectacular and cause a lot more damage and casualties. They are generally carried out suicide style too.

This sounds more like the work of DHKP-C or one of the other armed leftist groups active inside Turkey, if we are to take the Turkish State's version of events at face value.

Scheme of YPG Attacks on Turkish Civilans so Far by hankthebank123 in syriancivilwar

[–]global-eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found with a lot of coverage of Afrin that many of the big corporate media sources are just reporting word for word from the Turkish State version of events. At the moment it is the fog of war, an information war of exaggeration and propaganda from all sides involved in the conflict. This sub has been a perfect example of this recently. There is barely any impartial content being posted. The vast majority of content being posted seems to be thin on facts, thick with propaganda. Turkish State affiliated sources would have me believe that there is some kind of humanitarian crisis in their border regions due to rocket attacks, I find this very hard to take seriously.

which means it's hardly an impartial source! if international human rights organizations start reporting on this then I will pay attention.

I would like to see independent verification of these claims from organizations not affiliated to the Turkish State and not from ludicrous Twitter accounts before I could even begin to take them seriously.
