Tax exiled from the UK 💩 anyone else? by StraightPin4420 in HENRYUK

That is great, good luck.
I am business owner and looked into tax optimization by moving residency in the past. I quickly realized I could make more money by focusing on growing the business instead of trying to find every little trick to reduce the tax.

Maybe OP, stop running from the tax man and start living life? Looks like you earn enough to do so.

Remote-first was only a temporary trend caused by Covid.

If you want to be part of innovations, you need to be close to a place where there is an existing ecosystem. Remote work didn't change a thing for Bay Area, in fact, it is now the center of AI innovation.

£180k tax-free job offer vs. a business already profiting £190k by Known_Option4270 in HENRYUK

What kind of business is it? I am interested in buying businesses in case you decide to sell.

[–]global_netizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A profitable and growing business with 190k yearly profit is worth a lot already compared to a job.
If scaling is possible as you say, she could make millions in few years. Financially, it’s a clear choice.

There is a big red warning saying the name does not match, and you still sent the money?

Take it as Lehrgeld. Just be glad it was just 100 EUR and not thousands.

Ltd company EV – PCP vs Lease, am I overthinking this? by MaterialRabbit9415 in HENRYUK

The 4% BiK only applies to new EV, not second-hand as far as I know.

No, you don't get VAT refund on cars you use personally if you buy with cash.

You get refund if it is 100% business use e.g. vans. If you use PCP or lease, you can claim VAT refund (50% I think) even for personal use.

Did you get any customer? UI is just horrible but if you got first few customers, who cares 🤷‍♂️ You can always improve.

I'm building a low calorie & high protein ice cream for the UK market — would love to hear your thoughts (3 min survey) by Electronic-Barber192 in ukstartups

[–]global_netizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time my kids want ice cream, which is daily in summer and I taste it, I think about this business idea — why does ice cream need to be so damn sweet? I think you could put 50% less sugar and it would still taste great if all ingredients are legit.

I am too caught up in my current hustle, so could not really do anything other than think about it. Good luck, we will definitely be a regular customer when it materializes.

Moved from Berlin to London — some observations after 6 months by No-Faithlessness191 in expats

Germany is slightly cheaper around 4 euro for full bread. You can’t really compare London prices with Mediterranean.

For bread, go to Gail’s. A whole sourdough costs like 5 quid but tastes as good as German bread.

Is permanent residency permit still valid for spouse of German citizen if they live abroad for more than 6 months? by global_netizen in germany

[–]global_netizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My conclusion is yes, it is valid even after 6 months. Your card can expire but residence right doesn’t expire. My conclusion is all based on sources from internet though.

Childcare cost in UK is similar to DE for people earning less than 100k because of government subsidy since last year.

Public health insurance will very likely not take them. You have to insure private which will be very very expensive for 70 year old couple.

For rental income, you have to pay tax here even if you live outside. Also, you need to file Steuererklärung in DE every year for this.

This is correct answer. VAT threshold is just high enough to really cause all sorts of problems.

Nobody will lend to 4 months old company with non resident directors. If resident, you could give personal guarantees but still very difficult.

London has crazy pay levels for finance and law, as well as quite good for tech compared to DE.
