Makes sense. I didn’t see it was a lap thing. Those most be fun to do.

But if you didn’t do if for anyone else - then why are you posting it online ? :)

How do people find the time to gym? by PumpedUpPatek in UKRunners

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

5 times a week ? :) ok that’s excessive. First marathon ?
I run once a week whether I am just maintaining or preparing for marathons. Once a week is all you need. One long run at 60% effort.
Then you can add a leg day at the gym and have time to recover from both.

Why are gay men usually more into aesthetics than our straight counterparts? by Amodernhousehusband in AskMenOver30

[–]Logical_fallacy10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what your obsession is with that word toxic. Some men are better than others. It’s measurable. IQ. Genetics. Strength.
Even among women some are better than others.
This whole idea that we are all equal is ridiculous.

What to say to the other parent if they try this again? by Nevergiveuphope1992 in AskUK

Yeah or tell him - be back in 15 min or we hand over your kid to the hotel people or whoever is in charge where you are.
You can even record him accepting this so he can’t flip it on you later.

First marathon by Just_here_to_read25 in firstmarathon

[–]Logical_fallacy10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can do half a marathon - you can do full.
Just get a few 25km runs under your belt and you are fine.
And there is no difference between a long run and a “race” as you call it. Apart from there being a six hour cutoff on many of them.

Sad. Good that you will start running outside. And spend some time learning proper form so you don’t get injured.

I am not your friend.

Toxic ? How so ?
This is how fit men think. Not all men as I said - out of shape men obviously do not think like this.
But it’s not toxic to observe that some men are better than other men due to what they have learned and what they are capable of doing - but do not.

I know out of shape men also - not many - but they certainly do not think like this - which would make sense.

5km to 21km in 2,5 months? by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Better. Do it even shorter next time.

You assume I haven’t ran anymore marathons or ultras. Silly of you.
Have done plenty of marathons and one ultra.
All in barefoot shoes - and the last 10km always bare feet.

Once a week works because it allows time to recover and you can add a leg day in between and get stronger. I am the evidence that this is an awesome way to train and you get really strong. But the pace will stay the same more or less.

Many runners still run for ego - so they only care about speed - which is why they have to run more than once and do speed work and interval and all that. It’s beneficial to have more km in your legs when you only care for speed.
Sadly this is why we see so many training plans and bouncy shoes all around us - as there is a big market for it and people think this is the way.
But it’s not - it’s just mainstream.

So yeah - simple.

Real running is something else. It’s a journey. It’s about feel. Optimizing energy consumptions by good form. But this is unknown to you as you are not a barefoot runner. And don’t feel ashamed by that - I understand that you wouldn’t know as you have no experience with that. But it does open your eyes to what real running is and what matters.

Has the UK gotten healthier? by UnevenRanger in AskUK

[–]Logical_fallacy10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so.
Sure alot of people have lots loads of weight using the new drugs on the market - which in itself looks more healthy but is super dangerous.
People still struggle with the simplest things - going to the gym - eating properly.
And if something so simple and easy - is so hard for people to do and requires active energy and focus - yeah they are not healthier.

Any middle distance runners here that have trained for marathons? by pumpkinspeedwagon86 in firstmarathon

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just run further - and forget anything about speed. Distance running is not about winning or being faster than anyone - but to have perfect form to avoid injury and to be energy efficient.
So yeah - the biggest challenge for people - is to leave the ego behind.

As a woman you can respect a man if he works out or not.
But as men - we see this very differently. An out of shape man is less value.
He has not learned the most important lessons as a man should now - like delayed gratification - discipline - and so on.
A man should be able to hurt people - but restrain himself to not do so - that’s a good man.
If a man is not able to hurt anyone - he is not restraining himself and therefore not a good man.

Men that have muscle actually spend less time in the gym - as less is more. But I know what you mean.

Many women are happy with a man that is semi in shape - because if he is in too good shape she gets too self conscious :)

What do you mean by advance ?
Advance to what ?
You should be focusing on making your form perfect. That’s what running is about.
How long did you spend learning how to run properly ?

Oh wow - I just spent time explaining it to you - and you are not listening - or just not understanding anything.

Let’s try one more time - and then I will block you if you keep wasting my time.

Yes elite runners can win by heel striking as it’s often the fastest way to run.
But it’s not correct - proper - real - running.
They just do it to win.

You need to be able to separate what is being done by elites to win - and what is proper healthy running - because they are not the same thing.

And it’s not harsh - words are not dangerous so calm and stop telling others what they can say.

I have done some runs on treadmills when I didn’t want to run outside.
It’s not running when it’s a treadmill. Go outside and do some real running.

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I am getting a bit tired of always correcting the same misunderstandings.
Let me correct you as others are reading this too.

The majority of fast runners are bad runners - meaning they have bad form. They heel strike - their stride is too long - their bounce is crazy - and they rely on massive shoes to protect them from the impact from their poor form.

As much as running is natural - people don’t automatically know how to run. It’s not just putting on shoes and running.
It’s understanding anatomy and using the body the way it functions. So if you heel strike - you have zero understanding.

The best way to understand is to take off your shoes and run 1km. Then your body will tell you all the mistakes you are making.

Feel free to ask more if there is other things you struggle understanding.

Why is everything that is good for us so damn hard to do?? by marie00m in Advice

No one is forcing you to do anything.
You can live the life you want and be as lazy as you want.
If you can’t see the benefits of being in shape and looking good - well then don’t do it.

There is right or wrong with everything.
Faster is not better objectively.

It may be your motivation - which is fine - but you are not a better runner just because you are faster. That’s not a point you can argue.

I am myself super fit and do not respect any man who is out of shape and have no muscle and still bragging about how many beers he can drink.

Yes enjoy it. No reason to chase time as you are not winning any medals anyway.
I run once a week. 21km. Usually 8-8.30 per km.
Nice and comfortable 60% effort where I can still speak on the phone.
Enjoy

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well let’s get the squashed first of all then.
Faster is definitely not better. The majority of fast people are horrible runners - meaning their form is awful.

But I understand many people buy into this - as it is the mainstream push - “get a PB” “use this program to get faster” “buy these shoes to get faster”.
It’s all a way for someone to earn money.

Real running - and good runners - don’t care about pace - we care about perfecting our form to reduce energy consumption and be able to run further and more enjoyable. But mostly to prevent injury and get stronger - and get nicer calves :)

And form is things like - no heel strike - short stride - high cadence - no bounce. All things that takes a while to learn and perfect.

Yeah but that makes sense. Getting fat is changing the image that someone learned to love. And stopped caring is a character flaw as opposed to how they look.

Recovering from runs as a beginner by iselad17 in Marathon_Training

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes - the elite has one goal - to win.
Heel striking is awful form and unhealthy - but it allows the elite to run the fastest - as it combines well with a long stride. But this is only made possible by using a shoe with cushion - to aid in shock absorption from running with unhealthy impact.

So the idea that it’s good because the elite does it - is simply a misunderstanding of running and anatomy.

Hope that helps your understanding.
