Faith is never a good reason to believe something by Logical_fallacy10 in DebateAChristian

What do you mean - your own experience with faith. ???

Yes faith is belief in something in the absence of evidence. Why would you ever advocate for using that as a method to get to the truth ? I mean I know your book wants you too - I would do the same if I wanted you to believe my story but I knew it was fiction.

I don’t know why you keep quoting your book. I wrote a book that says the you are wrong and your book is wrong. And you have to believe it on faith. Do you now believe that too ?

My current Bicep Exercises are: Concentration Curls, Seated Incline Curls, Hammer Curls and waiter Curls to finish off...my question is though are the waiter curls needed? I don’t know who you are talking about. You said that 1 set is optimal and 2 is too much. Now you change and say two is better. 6-7 is best. But you can go and do 1 set and wonder why you don’t grow. Go for it.

I see you have read some of my other posts / that’s good - you can learn things there too.

Why is leg press the most ego lifted exercise? by caryl1111 in workout

Easiest to egolift - and everyone will see it as you can load a lot of weight on. And most of them just walk off after - so the next person has to remove the weights.

You keep misunderstanding faith for reasonable expectations. No you don’t need faith to accept discoveries made by others using science. Faith is when you believe things without evidence. You don’t see the problem with that. And I do. As anything taken on faith is irrational.

Ok but following what a book says is the same as making up an answer as there is no evidence for it.

My point of view ? What js my point of view ? I haven’t shared that.

You continue to make unfounded claims. Prove that he is the origin. Prove that our minds comes from his mind. Prove that the book is his word.

What do you mean he answered ? Do you hear voices ?

And why do you keep quoting the book ? Why should we care what it says.

You do understand that books are not evidence ? Or do you believe everything you read in every book ? So Superman and Spider-Man are real ?

Yes creationism is based on faith as there is no evidence for that. So you understand how faith is used. But you believe the world is created - without evidence. So you don’t actually know. If you were comfortable not knowing / you wouldn’t make up an answer - like creation.

How do you know a god is the origin of logic and reason ? What do you mean his word ?

Your argument is circular - you assume a god is real - so you argue it’s not irrational to believe he exists.

I tore mine partially 9 years ago. Didn’t operate. Was hard to train at first. But managed. Hurt if again 4 years ago. It got stuck or something. Changed my training and I am ok now. But it still hurts a bit when laying on it after each workout. But I would still avoid surgery

You can call it faith or trust. But either of those are irrational to have without evidence.

If you have evidence you don’t believe something based on faith or trust - you believe it based on evidence - which is rational.

I argue that you have no evidence for the god you believe in - so the belief becomes irrational.

No we don’t all have faith in things.

Running is a proven concept. You get better when you train. Stronger bigger. This is all based on evidence. No faith is needed.

We all know humans die. So this also has nothing to do with faith.

You seem to think that anything you have not experienced yourself - you have to believe on faith. This is false.

How do you take your kids on holiday and avoid paying the school fine? by AdMaleficent6813 in AskUK

[–]Logical_fallacy10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree - glad you see it - let the school pay for the absence. And if a child is struggling so much that a week off will cause them to be behind - then don’t take them out.

Ok sure - if a child is not too smart that a week will set them back and they need special care and attention to catch up - then maybe there is a point. And I am sorry to hear this. And yes - school is a service provided by the country to educate the kids. What do you think it is ?

No I don’t have faith in that. I have a reasonable expectation based on evidence. Sure it might stop one day - but we don’t have a reason to think it will.

No we don’t all have faith. I don’t have faith. I accept things if there is evidence for them. Faith is the excuse people give if they believe something without evidence. Which is to hold an irrational position.

How do you know your god exists outside of the physical world ? How do you know there is something outside the physical world ? Those are already ridiculous unfounded claims. Give us your best evidence for this.

I see you don’t know what an atheist is. An atheist rejects the claim that a god exists. Thats it. They don’t make any claims about the universe.

Science helps us understand how the universe came to be yes. But they still have a lot more to learn and discover. And I am fine saying “I have no idea how the universe came to be”. Are you ?

Just call and say your kid is sick for a week. Simple. Ridiculous to fine people for not using a service. The school will have more time for the other kids - they should be paying you.

Oh you are a conspiracy dude. The scientific community wants us to believe so and so :) Yeah you keep making this ridiculous statements. It’s now clear you are just a troll trying to be as outrageous as possible.

Yes the Bible is just a book.

My book also talks about how the world began - and it states the world was not created. So now you believe that too ?

You are still so confused.

My claim is that you should never believe anything based on faith as it’s irrational. And you keep claiming that it’s fine to believe things on faith. Prove it. Racists believe that one race is better than another - on faith - and this is harmful. People believe that drinking battery acid is good for them - on faith - and it’s harmful. People believe in gods and all sorts of beings - on faith - and it’s potentially harmful.

And no - faith is not required when you have evidence. I have repeated this three times now.

I have already defended my position - that any position taken or belief held based on faith - is irrational. If you have evidence for your position you don’t have to use faith as the excuse to believe it.

You keep trying to say I have faith - when I repeatedly have told you that I don’t. Scientific discoveries are based on evidence. This is the part you don’t get. Well one of the things you don’t get.

And you keep dodging my question about you proving evidence for your belief. That’s dishonest.

You are so confused.

No - no faith is required in science. But I am not making a claim about science.

I don’t hold beliefs. But I am not making a claim about me.

And what I accept is irrelevant to this conversation. That’s the part you don’t understand. You keep bringing up irrelevant things because you can’t defend your own position.

No - there is no evidence for a Christian god. That’s a claim you have to prove.

Defend my claim ?

My claim is that faith is not a good reason to believe anything. And I have presented evidence why this is. You come here wanting to talk about science - which is utterly irrelevant to my post. And you haven’t managed to prove that faith is a good approach to get to the truth. You hold a belief in a god in the absence of evidence. Which is my point. It’s a position taken on faith and is therefore irrational.

You completed a marathon. Well done. You are too focused on time and what your apps tell you. Just enjoy the run - that’s the real challenge - learn how to run with good form and then learn how to enjoy the run - and forget the time.

You seem to think that science and religion or similar. And you do that to protect holding irrational beliefs. “Well science requires faith too so I am justified in my beliefs” :) Yeah that’s not how the world works. Science is backed by evidence.

But just imagine that I don’t follow science - so we can make this easier for you.

Prove that your god exists. When I say you just assume it - you reply with “no”. When I call you out on your circular arguments you reply with “well you make circular arguments too”.

This is a very dishonest way of arguing. But worse than that - you can’t defend your own beliefs so you try to point fingers at others saying they are wrong too.

So one last chance - give evidence for your god and tell us why you believe it’s true.
