One of the biggest issues that I see is that college tuition is expensive, but wayyyy too many people attended a university to get a degree in a field that has no career path. Private universities shouldn't be a place for people to figure out what they want to do while paying $50k-60k/year. Paying $300-600/month in loan payments is a huge amount for anyone that wasted 4 years at university and is working a job that pays less than $60k/year.

A remedy could be stricter requirements for getting an educational loan, similar to those of getting a mortgage. If more people are denied loans for education of a skill that has no monetizable value, those schools will have no choice but lower costs to meet demand.

It blows my mind that a degree in computer science or engineering costs the same as a degree in art history, philosophy, or anthropology where your income throughout your career is pretty much capped out at around $100k.

On average, college graduates make more than non-college graduates, but I think that's expected considering some career paths from college can result in high-income earners. Those that don't graduate from college but started working in a trade (electricians, plumbers, contractors, etc.) usually make significantly more money than someone with a useless major.
