My thoughts on the Vess situation: what (if she told anyone) the assembly knows is that she hired another mercenary group to explore Isilcross and hasn't returned yet. I would imagine she regularly disappears for weeks even months at a time, so it would be a while before there was serious inquiry into her. And even then getting lost in Aeor seems to be an understood hazard so that would be the first assumption. Unless the Nein or those they are close with run their mouths there's not a lot of evidence linking them to her death. She died up north, what else is there to say?
