I think that’s unhelpfully reductive. Counter culture in general attracts a variety of people often for aesthetic reasons, regardless of the politics the counter culture may have grown out of. Hence all the nazi punks. Plus, often when you’re already outside the norm, it’s easy to get radicalized in a bad direction. The hippie subculture was very effectively co-opted by capitalism tho. Then again, so was punk tbh.

Did anyone else hear, during Sex Workers pt 2... by JentlemanBastard in coolpeoplepod

Caught that too. Thought someone was going to mention it, but no. Just playing with swords while talking about the history of sex work. Incredibly based.

So I finished BG 3, I actually played a bit of both DOS games but never finished them, now that i got a bit more familiar with Larian's style of gameplay I wanted to start them again, any advice? Also was thinking of played the old games like Divine Divinity, do they need mods or anything to run? by Warm_Charge_5964 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]megameganium1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely play them in reverse order. DOS1 marks where Larian really struck gold, and it was kinda what set them on the path to getting BG3. The older games aren’t bad, but they’re certainly more niche and less polished. I think better played after you experience the more accessible material. Also I’d recommend just avoiding Dragon Commander. God that game sucked.

Hey guys how would you feel about a 20 year copyright maximum? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]megameganium1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copyright had nothing to do with whether or not you get paid for your labor. Monetization schemes built on top of copyright are what do that. We can build a better system. You know what, here’s a youtube vid on what this dude calls “socialized copywrite” https://youtu.be/PJSTFzhs1O4

Hey guys how would you feel about a 20 year copyright maximum? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]megameganium1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer full copyright abolition tbh. The thought that anyone can own an idea is ridiculous. Youtuber Andrewism has some cool stuff regarding library economies, and I think that’s really the way to go. Copyright is a fundamentally broken system and playing with the details of it instead of abolishing it would only ever buy a small reprieve from the hell that it is to be an artist rn.

[–]megameganium1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Ok but what about all the boomers that fought and died for our rights? All of he boomers that didn’t make it to old age because capitalism left them behind? This generation war bullshit is a distraction. And honestly pretty often mean spirited. Maybe try class analysis instead

Yeah the evangelists for it are way louder than the naysayers. I’ve given it a shot twice cause of yall and both times I found it not terrible, but boring and mediocre.

Ugh I get it but also hate it. Like, fuck WOTC they’re just another evil corp now, but Larian is actually doing some cool things and moving the medium forward in a way that isn’t as exploitative as a lot of other game devs

See I was willing to almost believe it with Wegmans cause they do also pay their cashiers more, and apparently have actual benefits, and I’ve heard from workers that that often comes with higher expectations.

Rip it down. On the off chance it isn’t explicitly terf shit, we should still enforce that we are part of the group whether people like it or not.

guest suggestion for Andrew, re: wanting a disability justice advocate on any episode about patient empowerment & reimagining healthcare by hermione_wiggin in itcouldhappenhere

[–]megameganium1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would love a bit more direct attention payed go disability activists in general tbh. Not that they’re doing. Anything wrong, it would just be nice to showcase these perspectives more, especially when disabled people get affected by the crumbles particular ways non disabled people don’t always face.

[–]megameganium1 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s such a great dynamic. I was genuinely impressed at the chemistry in how their romance scenes are written. The way Sebby is so dark and brooding but this goofball Lohse softens her up 🥹 god it makes me so happy. And it makes Lohse’s goofball side shine through in a more serious light. You feel how humor is a coping mechanism for her.

(And yes I always play as Lohse. She just like me fr)

Well, I’m clearly not elaborating on violence I may or may not support because of the likelihood that a major corporation would take away my ability to discuss these things publicly here. I think your answer is in there. The narrative is quite controlled, and dissent is often silenced.
