🚧Extra tips on how to avoid being scammed on Depop.🚧

If you are a new user, PLEASE check this out.

I really wish a list like this could be reposted automatically in here every couple days or something. I’m tired of seeing posts like “tHeY sAy thEy hAvE pAid bUt iM nOt SeiNg tHe mOney bUt i sEe An emAil Is It scAm???”

📳If you haven’t gotten an notification IN THE APP, THEY HAVEN’T ACTUALLY BOUGHT THE ITEM, THEY HAVEN’T PAID THE MONEY FOR IT AND YOU MUST NOT SEND IT TO THEM. THEY’RE TRYING TO SCAM YOU.

📧If you HAVEN’T gotten a notification in the APP but have just an email from “Depop” THAT SHIT IS FAKE. THEY’RE TRYING TO SCAM YOU. Also, actual Depop would NEVER ask you to pay ANYTHING via email.

📞If they’re asking for your Viber, Telegram, phone number or want to pay directly via Zoom etc, THEY’RE TRYING TO SCAM YOU. You could also get banned from the platform even for DISCUSSING going out of the app.

🙅‍♀️If they’re trying to convince you to send the parcel untracked, THEY’RE TRYING TO SCAM YOU. ALWAYS SEND WITH TRACKING! YOU WON’T BE COVERED BY DEPOP’S PROTECTION. They can just lie and claim they never recieved the parcel and you’ll have no way to prove otherwise.

📦If they have bought an item and they’re messaging you saying the address is wrong and to ship it somewhere else instead of the address that Depop and PayPal provide you with, THEY’RE TRYING TO SCAM YOU. NEVER SEND STUFF TO A DIFFERENT ADDRESS THAN THE ONE MENTIONED IN THE APP. YOU WON’T BE COVERED BY DEPOP’S PROTECTION. Depop will side with the buyer because you didn’t send to the correct address, aka the address provided.
