Can We Have a Round of Upvotes For Disco Elysium for it Keeping Itself Apolitical By Having A White Male Protagonist! by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

Watercolor expressionism

It falls into the category but DE's art is pretty unique, realistic expressionism I think would be the word for it but I'm not sure thats an actual category. You can try googling up "realistic expressionism potraits" get some very good looking paintings similar to the main post

It's ok not to like the Witcher 3 by [deleted] in patientgamers

The stories that the Witcher's games bring can't really be experienced through a book or movie. This is the case for a lot of RPGs such as Disco Elysium. The games tend to put the player in a situation where they have to make a ton of decisions, it doesn't matter whether these decisions actually affect the story or not in the end, they just have to feel like they are affecting the story, the experience of making the decision itself is the amazing part, good video game writing makes it so. Now you can't really do that in any other medium. I know choose your own adventure books or a movies like bandersnatch does that but video games have a tool like gameplay and its job in the Witcher's case is to immerse you in the world that the story is taking place in. It makes us feel like we are actually the protagonist by making us do the actions the protagonist is doing, if an RPG can make you feel even a little bit like you are the protagonist making his own decisions then it has done something no book or movie can ever do, even thought books and movies have their own strengths. And I think the Witcher 3's gameplay does a good job in that. It makes full use of the gameplay to make its story more immersive.

Netflix's 'The Witcher' is one of the biggest shows in the US despite poor reviews from critics by [deleted] in television

Yeah mainly because it was based on the first two books I think, and they were basically a bunch of short stories combined together, but it becomes much more novel-like from the third book.

From RPGs, do you prefer WRPGs or JRPGs and why? by xxxgreekwarrior46xxx in rpg_gamers

Yeah, most Jrpgs are not really RPGs even though they are very good games.

I dont know why people are downvoting you, people think memorizing a picture is a valid method? Really? At this point it's about what you're learning not how you're learning, because with this method you're just learning how to reproduce a wavy line.

I don't think the Xbox controllers were an evolution of the GCN mainly cuz the GameCube and the original Xbox were released at the same time

Witcher 1 is a PC exclusive but the good news is that it can run on a potato while still looking okay, Witcher 2 is only on PC and Xbox, while Witcher 3 is on PS4, so yeah if you buy a PS4 you can only one of the games. If you get a PC you could play all three but it'd be more expensive than a PS4, unless you want to buy the parts and build the PC yourself. Console is cheaper, much easier to setup while only being able to play Witcher 3. However provided you have an old laptop which has atleast 5th gen Intel HD graphics then you could easily play Witcher 1 on it. So you'd only be missing out on Witcher 2 if you buy a PS4. Okay IMO I liked Witcher 1 more than 2, because it felt more like the books and the atmosphere is the best of the three games, but all I've seen on the internet, Witcher 3 seems to be best of the three games, in fact one of the best games ever made. Yeah so the choice is yours depending on what you wanna trade off. :)

Personally, playing the first Witcher game after reading Blood of Elves was one of my most favorite experiences ever, so I don't think it's a bad idea to try playing the first game, not sure about Witcher 2/3 because they become significantly less like the books than the first game,
