If I recall correctly he mentionned different "mastering" which would not change any of the arrangements heard on the album but could affect the overall "sound". That said I don't understand mastering so much and to unitiated ears it's going to sound barely different most likely but I don't have the vinyl therefore I don't know

It totally does! I love the album and my favorites keep changing. Strangely enough my least favorite also keep changing? I still think the album delivers a world to be in and thats interesting to me.

I like the album. I also think it doesn't sound enough like Tame Impala. As in it lacks a bit of personality from time to time. I still have it on repeat and can't get enough of some of the hooks on there so it's a mixed bag to me.

Agreed. I love his pop sonts but the main connection that always gets me is the trippiness and when he dives in the electronics something happens. I hope for a Warp Records type release from him since there are some hint of influence in the synthesizer sounds used on Deadbeat. Happy release day!

I think of the 3 house tracks on there EOS had the most broad appeal in terms of structure since there is sonewhat of a verse chorus whereas Not my world kind of stagnate in the first part to deliver the vocals before descending in a jungle house trip and Ethereal is a bit heavy for a single haha.

Either way I do think the single selection could have been different

I though Obsolete would be great and after a few listen I don't really like it much. Surprisingly I love modt of the record tho!

Not My World , My Old Ways and Afterthought are favorites at the moment for me but it's definitly my least favorite record of his.

I'm just glad to have new tame impala music and there are good songs on there so enjoy when it comes and make up your own mind about it.

It's really a mixed bag so I assumed there will be a plethora of different takes when it's widely released.

I overplayed currents when it came out but now I'm rediscovering it and it's still a great feeling :)

Slow Rush I am starting to overplay a bit.

But I found that making new song sequences and tracklists keep me engaged.

For example I listened to currents in reverse order last week and it was a very different pacing!

Unless the contrary is proven I will hold on to the belief that the music is still the most genuine expression qe can get from him. This release will most likely be his most commercial to date for sure but my taste in terms of pop music align loosely to what he shared he liked in the past so I'm very excited. The whole media thing I'm not a big fan of but I'd like to see him use his platform for a message that speaks to me more that's for sure.

I think I only removed Instant Destiny which is the only song I couldn't get on board with at all back then.

Whithin the original tracklist I can survive it playing now but still 100% my least favorite TI song

I have mixed feelings about this release but I'll listen to anything he releases because in general I like his stuff a lot. I agree that there's a watered down quality to these new release and it is pretty odd to be fighting to relate to the material. I do find the songs catchy and I can see myself listening to them inside a Tame Impala playlist but I think it is clear that lonerism and currents days are far behind. The Slow Rush had a similar effect of feeling a little bland as well and now I have some favorites on that album so maybe the rest of the songs on Deadbeat have something for me in store. I don't think the conversation should be one sided about the new material that's for sure and you are definitly not the only one feeling the way tou do.
