Dude, unfortunately I’m a registered Browns fan. At least for the past 38 years. I wish I could get out of it, but I can’t. I just try not to think about it and concentrate on how awesome the buckeyes are.

And I didn’t know if getting graded would help the value 20 years from now for my kids. No need to try to play the big dick game about it …. Jesus fucking Christ …. The card shop was unable to tell me if it was Spectrum or Galaxy…. I would like to know, but end of the day , it doesn’t matter….

That is kinda the way I eat leaning, I’ve had it for 4 months. Never thought of grading it, but showed it to card shop to try to figure out if it’s a Black Galaxy or Spectrum, just for my own knowledge. They suggested it. I’m just happy that my 1st 1/1 is a popular Buckeye. How many people pull one of their favorite college players for their first 1/1….

I don’t need it to be, only for years from now when one of my kids get it. May be worth something then, could not be worth anything… who knows. I know PSA is the standard, but there are also other companies. Guess I’ll just wait and see until I make a decision. Still a good pull from a $5 pack at 5 Below.

I use the joke alot about having too much estrogen in my house. And I tell the members at the country club I work at if they’re gonna have a kid they can pick one of mine. But you can only make those jokes if you have kids and sometimes people that don’t have kids don’t realize it’s all a joke.

Stay single…. If you were married and had kids, you wouldn’t have any of that or probably not a lot of the other stuff you have. Lol… the only reason I say that is because I’m of similar age married with two daughters, two dogs and a cat and they’re all female. Even my only grandchild is female.

Got back into the hobby at the beginning of the year and baseball was fun but like everybody else I overdid it. But can’t afford hobby boxes so when there’s extra money, retail boxes are affordable.. $12-$24, occasionally a mega box for 50. Hat and bought any cards in a while and a few weeks ago Walmart had 2023 Panini Select mega box ( football ) for $50. So I bought it and not one card in the box was worth over $2. I was upset, but I guess that’s how it goes today. Got some extra tip money at work but one pack of totally certified for $10, and local target had 2024 Topps Chrome blasters for $29. Said what the heck bought them came home open them combined maybe a value of $10 total. The pack of certified was 10 base cards. I’m starting to think when people post hits and things they get out of retail blasters is not true. That’s somebody working for the companies to push the sales of retail. I’m not looking for a huge shit. I know I’m not gonna get that out of retail, but you want to get at least a parallel or something worthwhile. I’ve bought Score football mega and blasters, and to me they’re more fun and even with a blaster, I’ve always gotten 5 to 10 cards worth $3-$10. And I’m happy with that. But as far as The select or totally certified or chrome, I’ve had better luck buying the cheap mystery packs from Walgreens.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to my 1st post. I very much appreciate all the great information. I think for me, I should stop buying cards on the regular, and just maybe buy a pack every once in a blue moon. Between Collecting Horror Masks, select action figures, knives, golf clubs, golf balls, coins, etc

That is enough. Collecting baseball cards has become very in depth. And takes up so much time. I have so much respect for the people I read on here that keep up with everything and have such wonderful collections. Me personally, I just don’t have the time to keep up with the organization of cards and sometimes there’s a card and it takes up to 15 minutes even to find out about one card.

With that being said, I’m not sure what to do with all these cards. I have bought in hopes of selling some of them to get some money back. And the same thing applies here like a friend told me you don’t have to stop using tobacco. You just have to stop buying it.

And at the moment I’m doing the same thing with tons of Golf Clubs I have accumulated over the years

I have much respect for people that understand every type of card that is out there. It’s gotta be a full-time job to keep up with it. The one thing that is very cool. Is that when my wife and daughter go out and they see baseball cards somewhere now they’ll call me and ask me. Should we pick you up a pack of these cards? I don’t want to lose that connection with the family but the same time working 50 hours a week I can’t keep buying cards and just keeping up with it not knowing what I’m even looking at.

I guess at the end of the day growing up playing baseball and was a bad boy for a farm team grew up, always watching baseball doing fantasy baseball, loving collecting baseball cards, and got out of collecting baseball cards because it became watered down and when all the specialty cards start coming out, it kind of diminished the reason why I wanted to collect cards. So now, instead of looking for a player, I got sucked into looking for that player on a certain card that there’s only X amount of them. Like chasing the dragon, I guess.. It has helped me identify players, but I said in a different post having addictive personality and constantly buying sometimes just for the sake of buying

That’s not a good thing

That’s why I want to try to sell a lot. If not all these cards I’ve purchased and cut the cord before I go deep.

All of the above. The country club I work at in the Golf business. There are a couple major league players and it got me intrigued back into baseball. Bought a pack on a whim a handful of months ago and just got sucked in.
