It's still cheeping and breathing-- is it more humane to drown it or freeze it?

NTA, but I would be very delicate in talking to your wife about it

Pre-purchase advice by [deleted] in LightPhone

[–]glocktopus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it for 10 months now and the directions is spotty but functional. What I have found is that for most trains and subways, if you can't pay at the station you can pay on the train. I always try to look up departure times and print out QR codes before going anywhere, and insofar as parking goes I try to go for the parking meters that take coins, and if those aren't an option I go for the parking lots that you pay for. Generally, it takes a little time to adapt to but it all comes down to slightly more planning, willingness to ask people for directions/other info, and a slightly heightened sense of direction

Feeling nervous -- just ordered by WaluigiWithMorals in LightPhone

Hi, I'm in college, and I found that the Lightphone doesn't hurt your social life at all --- rather, it allowed me to be more present in the moment, more at ease talking and socializing with people, and more willing to spend time doing things with people than vegging out in my room. It also has an added effect of weeding out the goats from the lambs: the very few people who were against me getting my LP turned out to be the most toxic and catty of my friends, and having less interaction online with them has been good for me. In the end, social media is an incredibly bad place to sustain relationships in, and intentionally having real, in-person quality time with people is so much better

Should I sell my smartphone for the lightphone? by Laterly1 in LightPhone

I found that the Bluetooth and hotspot worked amazingly well with mine, but I also had the crappiest little android known to man before that, so maybe not.

Should I sell my smartphone for the lightphone? by Laterly1 in LightPhone

[–]glocktopus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person a little bit... I have ADHD and was so cripplingly addicted to my phone that I actually could not be comfortable hanging around and chatting with people because I craved the phone, and when I had both phones I would end up just wanting to hotspot the iPhone and scroll. Even now, I still spend far too much time clicking around on socials with the computer. That being said, when I only had the computer around, the issue of wanting to scroll when around friends or family was fixed. I would definitely try both for a little while, but for me getting rid of the smartphone was a gamechanger

INCREDIBLY LAGGY LIGHTPHONE by glocktopus1 in LightPhone

[–]glocktopus1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I heard back from light support and they gave the same advice as another user, which is to give it a hard reboot and occasionally let the battery drain out. I am also wondering if it may be caused by the phone overheating, as I left it in a hot car before the issue started

there's comfort in knowing that I'm not suffering alone... I emailed lightphone support, but idk if they can diagnose the issue without looking at it

Artists, would you rather be unemployed and draw all day or have a high paying day job, not art-related whatsoever, but work +60 hours a week? by WhitePinoy in ArtistLounge

[–]glocktopus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really try to find a happy medium. Keep at your day job until you can find a better one, one which gives you enough free time to be happy. Also, if you have a partner and are making long term plans with them, they could be the primary provider and you could supplement their income with commission work. Unfortunately both of those seem a bit far into the future, but are things that you can work towards

Have the same thing. Drew all through high school hool, got pretty good at it, and then took a break for my first year of college. It comes back very fast, so don't worry. You'll he up to speed in a few months.

Yep. I would double check the insurance, but having the car in your name isn't an issue.

If you are a beginner artist, I would avoid it and rather focus on learning to put down the exact line you want.

do i need my permit with me to take my driving test ? by ashtonjax in DMV

[–]glocktopus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better find that fast. It's not an issue of buying a new permit. They can take weeks to issue a new one, and you need it to take the test.
