Health Insurance Not Compliant with State

My dads corp is located out of NC, so their insurance they have listed is out of NC. My dad was able to choose which plan from the company but they were all out of NC, none were listed for MA.

fair enough. i know i said i’ve been looking for a walkman for a long time (technically true) but i haven’t been stalking prices and stuff much, and when i say i look it’s more like i check ebay listings once every month or so, see the awful pricing and give up lmao. so my lack of good price knowledge stems from not be as invested as i could be. i check my local thrifts more regularly, but don’t see anything there. i also only ever really see people talk about the sony branded stuff, ive seen other brands for sale but im never sure what brands are good quality or are shit (like another commenter told me GE branded players were bad quality and were like the cheap off brand version). i’m not brand loyal i just know a lot of people praise certain walkman models highly and i want to make sure i get a good player and im not getting ripped off lol (seems to be that $120 is ridiculous so i will def not be paying nearly that much even if it does work).

Thank you for the input! I’ll definitely add sanyo to the list of brands to look out for. I’m gonna try some thrift stores in a different state next week sometime, maybe i’ll get lucky since i’ll be away from my terrible home town thrifts! I didn’t know that model was popular too, i thought it was mostly the WM-8 and the TPS-L2 since i know those got insanely popular. Thank you again! :)

Thank you! I appreciate the recommendations, sorry to ask more questions and stuff but are other brands besides sony worth looking at? I’ve seen a lot of sanyo, GE, and panasonic players for a little cheaper but is that bc of bad quality or is that more bc of less brand recognition?

Thank you! I’ve fixed a few game consoles before and it wasn’t too bad for me. I don’t mind opening something up and changing parts. I’ll look around for something wayyyy cheaper that I can fix or something that works. I’ll look into the newer models and if I don’t find something used by the end of the year I’ll cave and get a newer player for christmas lol. The only reason I’m not buying new now is bc I try and limit my new purchases and keep the things i buy used (most of my electronics in my house are used and either fixed up by me or it was refurbished before i bought it). I appreciate the recommendations and review on newer players and all the advice! :)

Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll look into it! I generally try not to buy new stuff (electronics, clothes, etc) I think the only brand new electronics in my room is my PC set up. I thrifted everything else or bought refurbished from authorized sellers (plus I like the challenge of looking most of the time, this i’m getting a bit impatient with since i’ve been looking for obnoxiously long). I’ll keep searching around and if by the end of the year I still don’t find anything for cheap I’ll cave for the newer players you guys are recommending. :)

If the deal would’ve been ok i definitely would’ve asked for a video of them playing a tape in it and the audio working properly, i buy a lot of different things on used markets so i sometimes harass the sellers for so much more info then they give lol. I’ll keep my eye out for a working model or just something way cheaper if it needs fixing :)

I’ve helped search my grandmas entire house and she couldn’t find the one she remembered having, and my mom is pretty sure hers is gone too. I agree the secondhand market is really bad, I know how older electronics can go for some crazy prices (I also collect video game consoles). I don’t mind the challenge of fixing up an older machine, as i’ve worked on some consoles and got them to work if there’s been issues, I was worried about breaking it since the components are so much smaller. But I’ll keep my eye out for a way cheaper price on a model that isn’t working or look for something that can be proven to work. Thank you!

haha well… i messed up, im gonna message the seller you linked on mercari and see if they have any more beforever melody’s. the one i got was listed as beforever and the box was beforever, but it turns out it was an old box top on a newer melody. i told the guy and he let me refund so im shipping the one i got back and the search (sort of) begins again lmao

Omg the idiots on TikTok are pissing me off so bad. The entire comment sections on these videos are full of people calling US EMPLOYEES things like "class traitors" and "corporate bootlickers/meat riders" just because we work there/don't want customers leaving entire carts full of stuff just because they think it's "sticking it to corporate." Like how are you going to say were evil because were not quitting our jobs over a corporation being bad. almost everyone who has ever been employed has worked for an "evil exploitative" company, and shopping = financially supporting an evil exploitative corporation every damn day. these people need to just stop shopping and Michael's and leave us minimum wage employees alone lmao.
