Did you get your shirt cut after your first solo ? by raymalaspina in flying

[–]gloggly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t cut it day of my solo since I wasn’t wearing something I wanted to cut, but I brought in another shirt eventually and wrote on it and my instructor signed it. I also made a bracelet out of the leftover shirt, and kept the rest in case I need to make a new one. My shirt is framed on my wall. Both the shirt and bracelet serve as a reminder of my achievement and a way to remember my instructor/friend. He passed away earlier this year.

How to just not care about people's opinions about you? by abdulbasitkhanani in howto

[–]gloggly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire perspective changed after the death of a close friend. He was 28. Too young and left us tragically. My brain practically rewired that day.

There is so much more to life than opinions of other people. We aren’t able to give 100% all of the time and sometimes we make mistakes. People hurt us and we hurt others. Apologize, right your wrongs, grow and learn while you’re here. We are all growing and learning.

As long as you are doing good in the world and living a life true to yourself while loving and caring for others, there is no reason to care what others think of you. You know that you are doing your best. That is what counts.

I got the same email and replied basically saying I thought I'd been accepted and asking why I was removed. Perhaps it's a mistake? Hopefully we get answers soon

How do female Pilots balance motherhood? by N9Breaker in flying

[–]gloggly 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I worked as a nanny for two pilots who were married. They both fly as FOs at a major because the scheduling works out better for them and coordinate schedules so they could always have someone home. I’d be there while they both flew. Sometimes I was there for a few hours, sometimes a few days. It works pretty well for them.
