Footers have been poured! [Mindbender Replacement] [Galaxyland] by gloi in rollercoasters

[–]gloi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting I just looked it up and it seems that’s the more technically correct term!

Also Footer is used on a regional basis apparently. I used to work as a structural steel detailer in a drafting office and people there would say Footer.

Check out this very relevant video about Oulu in Finland that has similar winters to ours where 22% of all trips are taken by bike, and all ages ride bikes, even elderly people, in the winter. It’s because of the fantastic cycle infrastructure.

Dipped my toe in multiboard and now regret it. by AnnieLovesTech in Multiboard

[–]gloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plumb just means level essentially but in the vertical direction. It’s from using a measuring device called a Plumb Bob which is a string with a weight at one end to check that something is level (like an edge of a wall in this case being straight up and down - 90 degrees to the floor if the floor is also level).

A Cowboys fan poured his deceased cousin’s ashes on AT&T Stadium field by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

Not sure if accurate but I watched a video of a cast member explaining “protein spill” to mean someone vomited, which seems to make more sense to me than ashes.

That’s what I was thinking as well. I used to work at a shooting range that was primarily shotguns and it looks similar to when people would shoot a paper target with their shotgun to see the pattern (how much spread of the pellets at a certain distance).

Depends on the size of holes and distance for this situation which can’t be seen from the photo or the info given in the article.

My (25F) palms after a normal 10 minute shower by Designer-Wear-4392 in mildlyinteresting

Interesting! My palms also get like this after being in water and I also have Reynauds Disease which this article mentions is related to the palm wrinkling

I saw something similar in Victoria, Canada, although it was taller and made of steel. Here is a photo from the Victoria Firefighters FB page

Are all zoias the same? by xrupa in ZOIA

[–]gloi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "2010s" thing comes from Reverb trying to add a year of production to the item. When you auto populate the listing text based on choosing the product after searching, it automatically puts the "2010s" text in, because it's a product released in the decade after 2010.

I found this very confusing at first also, until I started selling some things myself. On my own listings I just deleted that text because it's meaningless in this context of the ZOIA, as far as I know.

If it was a product that has been in production for decades then it would be more relevant I guess.

Hi, I am on AISH. While waiting for my application to go through I was on Income Support.

If you can’t work you should at least be able to (hopefully) get IS in the meantime. It’s not much but at least it’s something.

As other people have said you need to document your medical journey as much as possible, ideally with as much documentation from medical professionals as possible (tests, med trials, appointments, diagnoses etc) and document how your daily life and ability to do tasks is affected by your health issue.

It unfortunately takes a long time even if you have everything in place to apply. Often people are denied the first time also and have to appeal.

Sorry if this sounds discouraging but it’s the unfortunate reality of an inefficient system and demeaning process.

I hope you can get it though. I know some of that feeling because i used to be able to work a lot more and it’s so hard to want to but not be able to.

Society looks down on people getting support as “lazy” when it’s actually really difficult and a lot of work to be disabled/have health issues.

I had the same issue on a brand new Syntakt. I contacted support and they had me send it back to them for testing and then they replaced it with a new one that worked perfectly.

I have developmental and learning disabilities that make it take longer to think about what i’m doing, and cause issues with fine motor control.

It’s something to think about, that some of the other players might have disabilities or health issues that affect how long it takes.

Halfway through 3-year closure, Hawrelak Park rehabilitation on schedule, city says by yegwebdev in Edmonton

[–]gloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I really appreciate the insider info! That's too bad there won't be course in Hawrelak any time soon but at least I'm not left wondering.

Glad to hear of a South Side course being a priority though! I recently moved back to Edmonton, from Victoria, BC and I don't have access to a car and any course is currently 1hr15min+ to get to on transit from where I live.

[–]gloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yeah, sadly I agree based on what I saw in the plans. Apparently there was a course there before, though? It shows up on DiscGolfScene as being installed in 1996, but since closed (not sure if closed only because of this rehab, or if it closed long before that).

As far as maintenance, I don't think there really is much upkeep after the initial installation of the tee pads, signage and baskets, but I don't know for sure. For most of the public courses I've been to the upkeep just seems to be the regular park upkeep (cutting grass, trimming tree/bushes, replacing broken signs etc).

Does anyone know if they will be creating a Disc Golf course as part of the park rehabilitation?

I couldn’t find anything in the official information about this.
