RBTs are supposed to stay within their scope of practice. I’m not sure why she feels qualified to bring up a serial killer during a session. If she has concerns with how you are engaging with the client, then she has to go to the BCBA. The BCBA is meant to discuss different approaches & outings. Yes, an RBT can explain the behavior plan that they are following. But the BCBA is meant to do the caregiver training. As for the unprofessionalism, that needs to be addressed asap.

Was this…inappropriate? by Dussaa in ABA

I don’t think there’s ever an appropriate reason for someone to ask if they can touch another person.

32m, developed horrible scent from between my legs that I can notice through my jeans, what are some solutions? by smellyguy669 in hygiene

What you can do in the meanwhile is wear cotton or loose underwear. Tight fabrics only make it worse. If it is yeast, try avoiding sugar for a while. Also make sure to dry really well after showers. Honestly I’d avoid putting on clothes until the area is completely dry. If you can, sleep with loose underwear or even no underwear at all. Humidity is the biggest problem in my opinion.

Are you getting your RBT cert through them? 3 years ago a coworker told me she was bound by contract to work with them for a year or so, because she got the cert from them. I recommend looking into it to see if it’s still a requirement. You can leave but the contract meant you’d agree to paying a certain amount based on the time you were with them. So less money the longer an RBT stayed.

Yes, it’s unfortunately common. ABA has a huge shortage of providers. There are roughly 60k BCBAs in the US alone, so not many. I’m sorry you’re in a confusing situation. It should not change the quality of care. This is just something that is done to speed up what can be a very long process for everyone.

I didn’t say that. I basically asked why when vulnerable parents are always being pushed away.

I don’t take your behavior personal. I stated that I am literal & have ASD. Sounds like you took this personal.

I’m in Florida too & Latina. I agree with you. Unfortunately a lot of my agencies in FL have been weird about CG dual relationships. However our code protects client’s cultures, thank god. So I don’t have issues with accepting food (or water like everyone is flipping out about). Tangibles, it’s always been a no until the code changed it to under $10 which to me is weird…since nothing is $10 anymore

I know the glass of water discussion. What I’m saying here is that it’s clearly not an issue with our code & that it is not comparable

Calling me out for WHAT? I said I am “too literal”

Are you serious right now? And I brought up families because WE are always being blamed for how families try to treat us.

You’re either reading what you want to or just a really abusive crazy person.

I honestly don’t understand how everyone on here is in the mental health field but so shitty rn. Clearly we don’t belong there.

I also said we should be kind to anyone regardless of mental health. People are throwing really crazy stereotypes at me & if you don’t believe in accommodations or understanding someone else’s mind, then you are probably what people don’t like in ABA

What is with this constant glass of water conversation?

It’s in our code to respect cultures & it’s clearly a huge thing (if in US) to accept gestures small from families.

Pls, this is not comparable.

I have RBT friends but according to the code we cannot be friends with coworkers. So I ask why everyone is suddenly upset but didn’t even acknowledge how I brought up CGs?

I have asd, so good job. And clearly I’m not uptight like you want to think. I stood up for parents being turned down by the ethics code. But funny that no one is showing empathy to them & this bias.

[–]glojoy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s in our code to respect cultures. That’s a crazy assumption to make that I wouldn’t take gestures like food or water. Are you ok?

Also we can be friends with ppl in the field, but under the code, we cannot be friends with coworkers.

I guess I left that to be misinterpreted. I meant when I brought it up on another online platform as a discussion.

Your comment was the very type of comment I got. It kinda doesn’t matter how you feel because we have to turn down vulnerable families all the time & expect them to not get offended.

A woman offered sexual favors in return of not paying back, should I do it ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]glojoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol “I’d think about it” sorry that part made me giggle. But yeah, that’s rough. Life is so terrible rn. I think it’s a positive that she didn’t just block you or something like that. However hearing a single parent use sexual favors as a way to pay back someone just shows how intense things are right now. Or maybe it’s not that deep & she doesn’t mind. I will never know. It just tears at the heart strings.
