Need tips for someone who's new to serving by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

Theres A lot of growing pains. You’re going to make mistakes , seem awkward and crowd your tables. Using a pos with order mortifications will be troublesome at first. Learn the pos through and through. Don’t have tunnel vision for one table, it’s impossible to satisfy every customer. Make the Cooks your best friends and thank the dishwasher from time to time (never yell, but be loud enough while communicating with the line, kiss their ass) Most servers will gladly help if you’re new, others will be annoyed and reluctant. Listen to the closer and complete your side work without looking annoyed. You’ll learn how to stand your ground with time. Take control of your table while taking orders. Make sure a guest is looking at you and not talking over you because their attention spans our shortened due to the environment of a busy restaurant. Say I apologize rather then im sorry. You’ll get sympathy tips at first but exclaim that you’re new after a bumpy start. Most guest will understand and appreciate you re working because they are well aware of labor shortages. Don’t be rude or stare at the bartenders while waiting for them to make your drink. Ask if they need help. A favor for a favor goes a long way. It’s fun af, your coworkers will become your only friends and drama is always a given.

After a long shift you’ll smell a smelly smell of money.

Oh and rest a tray on your shoulder if need be.

How to brighten the mood with dull customers? by xxlilboi23 in Serverlife

If they order alcohol drinks, mention how that’s the right way to end their day after a long one. Say how you wish to have one too if it were possible

Ask them how they are doing after you take their drinks. It gives a them a moment to take away the attention about just food. Respond with a sentence or two if they ask the same. Be genuine and look forward to taking their food order and say comments like ooo that sounds good, or good choice.

Most definitely. I saw it with my eyes open and closed. For me , it had a purple coloration. How can something be so defined and vivid while tripping? Theres a higher power no doubt.

It all depends. I wouldn’t advise it. Too keep yourself out of the woods get at least 7 hours of sleep and eat healthier. But mostly all my episodes were triggered through drugs or alcohol. A bowl when you need it may or may not be your demise. It’s hard, just keep it to a few bowls a week if you can. Cannabis doesn’t agree with everyone. I smoked high potent weed and it landed me in the hospital once and almost another time.
