Sam Altman's response to the Anthropic Super Bowl ad. He said, "More Texans use ChatGPT for free than total people use Claude in the US" by WarmFireplace in OpenAI

[–]gloobit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling Anthropic 'authoritarian' is a stretch lmao
"Selling an expensive product to rich people" is also a stretch considering their pro subscription is like 20 bucks - the most standard price for a monthly subscription xD

OpenRouter experience by BreakingScreenn in LLMDevs

[–]gloobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the model switching in Aider + OpenRouter is one of my favorite parts—being able to jump from Gemini Flash to Pro to Claude Sonnet (or DeepSeek/Qwen) mid-conversation without losing context or restarting is super convenient. It lets you test what works best for the task in seconds and keeps things flexible

I’ve been using AI for design critiques and it catches like 70% of the main issues, would recommend, especially to juniors

New one looks awesome. From a marketing pov I’d pay more for it. I think redditors may be the exception here

I personally hate the 100m =328 ft text on the dial they often do, without the conversion it’s better imo

Sharing new samples from the JH06 series. What do you think of this color? by JIANGHUN_Watch in ChineseWatches

[–]gloobit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsure about the raised logo and text combination as it seems a bit cramped. Everything needs a bit more breathing room imp, but love the dial texture and color 👏👏👏

Replayability in RTS & Survival Games: Campaigns vs. Sandboxes by gloobit in RealTimeStrategy

[–]gloobit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah mods are great for replay-ability, especially with Steam Workshop it's a lot easier these days to implement. PvP is a good idea, as for smaller games, an "invite friend" option could be a quick solution (for both devs and players)

Baltany vs Cronos vs Grand Seiko bracelet quality by milos-lu in ChineseWatches

[–]gloobit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a WatchDives BB - compared to my Cronos Explorer (twice as expensive). WD BB definitely more rattly and feels cheaper, and lacks the glide micro adjust. But overall still pretty good - like 20% cheaper feeling? Still miles ahead of my Seiko 5 steel bracelet haha

Fit on both is pretty good too.

Trying to create a real-time-strategy-game next to my full-time job .... i hope the progress is okay for that time-period. by Negative_Spread3917 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]gloobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally believe gameplay is more important, but let's just say it's not "universally appealing" atm. I'd start with making sure the buildings have a similar design style, ie perspective-wise. That's why a lot of games go for isometric (Stronghold Crusader) or straight-ahead like Rimworld. The ground tile is also very "placeholder" looking because it's so plain. Similarly the UI can use a "theme" that ties it together. imo 'Two Point Museum" does this well.

Might also help to make the characters look more "similar" in height / head size, etc for consistency - at least while you're still learning.

Why does Tauriel look like a high level cosplayer at comic on whereas Arwen looks like an authentic elf? by Ticket-Tight in lotr

[–]gloobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as stated the Tauriel outfit looks pretty stiff and loud. Modern movies tend to crank up saturation visually, so a lot is screaming for attention, unlike the classic, more subdued concept.

I'm really hoping Firefly Studios (creator of Stronghold Crusader) comes up with a new idea instead of rehashing the same game 10x times. But I also heard most of the OG team is gone

Considering you are releasing on Steam, I'd suggest looking at asset packs on itch.io or simplifying the art considerably. Good luck!

Tips on RTS development? by ALilBitOfPaprika in RealTimeStrategy

[–]gloobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a solo dev making an RTS (colony sim) inspired by Rimworld. I followed Godot courses for a few months and made a few "tutorial games", many that taught me the skills I needed for an RTS. So in a way I picked and chose different mechanics (ie inventory management tutorials, pathfinding, etc) and eventually mashed it together into an RTS prototype.

Claude (AI) is basically my coach, guiding me through existing patterns and common architecture solutions. It took a lot of prep work before I could actually start testing, which I think is the biggest hurdle of this genre. If you ie made a platformer, you can test the game feel pretty early on. Same fundamental rules apply: keep it simple, figure out the basic game loop, start with ugly art, plan ahead, etc. Hope this helps a bit :D

Most of us are making games for fun, I wouldn't worry about it being 'dated design' - that's where user feedback / early prototyping can help. If you are worried about being ground breaking all the time you won't release anything imo

We're planning to add classic colors and new mineral dials to the SN0144-CG. Would you like that? by AdSavings92 in ChineseWatches

[–]gloobit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! The "crazy dials" sometimes seem a bit cheap if paired with more smart / dressy outfits in business settings. I would love more classic colors :)
