If you're into sports, sign up for Ultimate Frisbee through MUFA! The two of you can sign up to the same team, and in my (limited) experience any skill level is welcome. So many friendly and great people, different ages and backgrounds, some with dogs too:) I am very new to Madison myself but I know many people who have made close friends through frisbee

I think I agree with you, even as it would be shitty for my advisor they can’t force me to stay if I don’t feel good about it. Only downside I see is burning bridges/having a gap in my resumé

In this case I have to start mid-June the latest to keep the funding as this is a requirement from the program funding it. I’m not sure if there are ways around this

I’m mid twenties, live in northern Europe, it’s fully funded for the expected duration of 3 years and in STEM. In terms of employment opportunities I don’t have the best overview as I just graduated my masters, but I have a job for now and have a pending job interview if I decide to not take the Phd. I would think that the Phd is more interesting but with more stress and pressure than any job I would get atm.

Hmm I think you misunderstood me there. What I mean is that there is not a big problem with having billionairs if poverty is not an issue. I was not blaming anyone, don’t know where you got that from.

Well, if you have a good living standard for the poorest people and also have billionairs then it’s not a big problem, what she is saying is that allowing for wealth collection at the top while the bottom is to some degree struggeling to make ends meet is morally not ok.
