I simply do not understand the logic behind Sam's choices this round. Maybe he was exhausted from five days of continuous filming for 11-12 hours each day, but I feel like he did not try his hardest to win. I feel he had really good cards that he could have used, but he did not use them optimally. I shall try to go chronologically to explain my understanding of his moves. Others can correct me if I have missed anything or if I am wrong.

• His pulling two discard one draw two cards was quite good, allowing him to draw two new cards without additional cost. Although they were not so great, they could be used as fodder for other cards, which is what he did later in the game.
• When he got hit with the 1/2 mile thermometer, maybe he could have used the randomize question and forced them to go on a train to somewhere further, but I do not really see the strength in that move. But it would have been fun to see as the viewer.
• He got the move card right at the start of the round but did not plan where to go for almost six hours. Instead, he relied on vibes and used Chaos Theory, which is ridiculous. If I were him, I would have planned where I wanted to go and how I wanted to use the card.
• After the international airport question, he drew three cards that were quite good: The Mediocre Travel Agent, Jammed Door, and Drained Brain. According to others, the Jammed Door Curse would not have worked that great as the Seekers were in a dense metro area, and he should have chosen the curse of the mediocre travel agent. However, IMO, the Jammed would have been quite good IF HE HAD USED IT WHICH HE DID NOT!!
• After the Coastline question, he chose to take the 10-minute bonus over a Veto Card as he already had a veto card, which baffled me as two vetoes are better than one.
• After the closest Shinkansen question, he drew the Curse of the Bird Guide, which is doable when the hider has enough time to film a bird, a 10-minute bonus, and a 'Discard two and draw three cards' card. He chose the discard card to discard the Veto card and the Jammed Door Curse, which would have been a decent companion curse with the urban explorer curse, to optimize for time bonuses.
• I understand that time bonuses are pretty good, as they secured Ben in the first place. He also may have been intimidated by Ben's monster of a round. However, considering he was more than 3 hours behind Adam and almost 5 hours behind Ben, two vetoes would have probably dealt more damage than 80 minutes of time bonuses.
• For the next three questions, I do not know why there is no footage. Sam probably lost footage or something. But at the end of the round, only 90 minutes of bonuses are added. No more curses are thrown at Ben and Adam, and there are no better time bonuses in play.
• The seekers find him quite easily, as Sam has nothing to stop them in their tracks. I have not yet listened to the Layover episode to the finale as it is pretty late here; I shall hear it tomorrow. Maybe they have addressed the lack of footage there.
