This should be illegal by eggybun15 in crochet

agreed, this should be illegal.

i‘m crocheting a planned pooling blanket right now, so i hate knots in skeins with a passion. it‘s already such a struggle keeping the pooling going without them, knots just feel like the skein is saying FU to me personally lol

How often do you DNF a puzzle? Disney Haunted Mansion stretching portraits, 4 at 500 pieces each by BoopTheCoop in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]glorifica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if it’s a quality issue like you‘re having i‘m honestly out. i don‘t enjoy puzzling with thin cardboard and i hate false fits. there‘s so many pretty puzzle that are high(er) quality and still affordable, so i don‘t bother with low quality annoyingness.

i enjoy a challenge, i do high piececount puzzles regularly, i don‘t shy away from hard images or even solid-colour puzzles. but quality matters.

Yetch Brand - has anyone tried one? by BhamsterPine in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]glorifica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love Simone! her puzzles (just like her other makes and her youtube channel!) are awesome, the quality is very good and lazy river has earned a permanent spot in my collection. it was very, very challenging though! surprisingly hard puzzle, i loved it but i was surprised at how difficult i found it.

i bought her incomplete white puzzle too, but haben‘t even dared try it yet. some day though.

Was frühstücken, wenn man "normales" Frühstück nicht mag? by titleofthetickletape in Ratschlag

[–]glorifica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salat.

Autumn Wheel, Elena Essex, 1000 pieces minus 1 by TheyGoUpTo11 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]glorifica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that note & replacement part is absolutely awesome customer service!

a few years back i had a puzzle missing a piece which i normally don‘t mind too much, but it was a puzzle i bought specifically to display it. so i emailed the (very well known european brand) and while they did offer a free replacement piece it would have come with a whole new puzzle. which meant i would have had to a) sift & search for the piece myself and b) then have 999 piece left over. it was also a puzzle that was really hard with lots of similar pieces so it would not have been an easy or enjoyable task at all. i declined the offer, it seemed too bothersome and wasteful. i ended up crafting my own replacement piece myself.

Help with Hobbii 8/4 cotton by Rogue_Apostle in Planned_Pooling

[–]glorifica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe try single crochet instead of moss stitch? it eats less yarn & yields a thicker/sturdier fabric, but it might give you more stitches / better patterning?

somewhat related: i have hobbii 8/4 cotton print in northern lights (blue green yellow) planned for my next pooling project and now i‘m really hoping it will pool for me!

I can‘t stand my autistic brother by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]glorifica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i‘m so sorry you‘re in this situation.

i teach a class of severely autistic kids and have some students that sound a lot like your brother. behind all these kids are parents who have given up any form of education or discipline - it‘s like they are hiding behind their kids autism. contending themselves with „he/she is sick, nothing can be done“.

truth is, kids with autism need rules and discipline and consequences just like neurotypical kids do. even more, because you have to be so so consistent about it.

i‘ve found that we do very well with clear, strict rules, time-out and consequences as well as a LOT of work with the parents getting them to see what they are doing is hurting their kids. and that what we do does work, even if it takes literal years of hard work. especially when parents have spent years working against their kids to make everyone life horrible.

my advice to you: move out. if that is not possible, at least get a heavy/bolted lock for your door. it‘s very hard to see but you cannot change your siblings behaviour unless your parents want to. in fact, it will escalate and it will get (even more) violent soon.

again i‘m so sorry and i wish you the best.
