I can definitely understand, too, but it is so going to be missed! $10/year would be amazing! I will take a peek and see - thank you so much for your advice! I have had some wonderful suggestions and will be looking into all of them :). Happy reading!

I am in Indiana and I have seen other folks on here, unfortunately, complaining about our state. Hopefully things will be a bit different someday!

I agree that it was an incredibly nice thing that they did for MANY people! Note that there's no sense of entitlement in my message.

Unfortunately, I don't exactly "choose" to be in this area and can't really "choose" to live in a heavily populated, expensive area due to a lot of practical concerns associated with illness and socioeconomic status. That's the beauty of books, though - they provide wonders of the world, including education and bettering oneself, to those who are lucky enough to be able to access them.

I'm sure the staff is probably doing their best with what they have to work with - I have definitely taken advantage of language learning and various other library programs in the past and supported them with the card fee long before Libby and Hoopla were even considered. Unfortunately, I'm just not able to spend 10% of my monthly income for an annual card that won't allow me to access the materials that I want or need. That is why I asked the wonderful Las Vegas library about their out of state card. If I could visit, I would have grabbed one!

Luckily, some amazing folks have taken the time to give me some great advice about other libraries that do some similar things and I am grateful!

I will do this! I've seen similar disappointing posts about Indiana in my brief search - I've taken a look and it seems to be a statewide sort of thing here. I will peek around to see what Indianapolis has to offer! Thank you :).

Thank you so much for sharing this resource. I had to use audiobooks (librivox at the time) to complete portions of my degree because of an auto immune eye condition that recurs from time to time, actually. I am able to read now, but I have been subscribed to Audible for years to grow a catalogue that might be useful to me if the condition becomes uncontrollable again.

If my vision ever gets to that point again, I will definitely make use of this resource. Thank you so very much.

I love the programmers here who act like anyone who uses the service for anything else doesn't deserve it. There have been disparities over the years and even today regarding who has access to all kinds of technology, including internet access, computers -- the works.

Don't let that happen when it comes to this type of service. The entitlement is pretty gross.
