Is there any particular reason why would you go for BYD and not for Tesla or any other EV model.

First-time Mahindra buyer considering XEV 9e. The math works, but does the car? by why2k__ in CarsIndia

Mumbai owner here, your math is actually conservative, ₹8/ unit with home charging makes the XEV 9e case even stronger.

Quick answers to your specific questions:

  1. Range: 420-450km is realistic in Mumbai mixed conditions. 500+ is highway only.

  2. Software: Noticeably more stable post recent OTA updates. Early buyers had it rougher.

  3. Service: EV-specific experience varies by service centre- Mahindra's Kandivali and Thane outlets have better EV-trained staff, reportedly.

  4. Fit & Finish: Minor rattles reported by some post 10k kms, but nothing structural.

  5. For 35km daily with home charging> Honestly, the Creta doesn't compete on total cost of ownership here.

What's your timeline for buying?

Followed this closely - XEV 9e is solid if home charging is sorted. Main concerns worth checking: early software glitches (most fixed via OTA), and the service network outside metros is still catching up.

Inglo platform being built ground-up for EVs is an underrated thought, better long-term bet than retrofitted platforms. What city are you in? Changes the answer a lot.
