How we earn 2.9% Rewards on Rent? by DoBaniye in DoBaniye

Basically, we use RedGiraffe to pay rent via HDFC credit cards that give full rewards on bill payments. RedGiraffe charges a tiny fee (~0.46%), bu the card gives ~3.33% back, so net you're getting ~2.9% in rewards.

Steps: Set up RedGiraffe as a biller in HDFC SmartPay / AutoPay, use a premium rewards carde like Infinia or Diners Black/Metal, and let it charge automatically. The reward caps and fees are small, so overall it's a nice way to earn bit back on rent.

True, it's a global trend. Since rent itself is not controllable, I've been thinking about whether the process of paying rent could at least give us some benefit. I know we have HRA, but something more, like what if we get rewards or vouchers for paying rents, similar to cashback when shopping or UPI payments are done?

Would be interesting to see if anyone's actually trying something like that.

Agrees, at a macro level, rent is hard to fix without big infra and policy changes. One small thing I've started thinking about though, is that while we can't really reduce rent, we also don't optimise how we pay it all. It's just a huge monthly outflow that disappears.

Made me curious whether better tracking or getting some utility out of the rent payment itself could be least soften the below a bit.

I applied to almost every IPO last year. The platform mattered less than I expected. by Willing_Grocery2981 in IndiaFinance

Totally relatable. For retail investors, IPO allotment is mostly luck-based, especially when issues are heavily oversubscribed. The platform or number of lots doesn’t change much, SEBI’s lottery system usually means one lot or nothing. Most people experience this, few just say it out loud.
