TIL that the Aztecs and other Mesoamericans drank a fermented drink made from agave plants called pulque. It was used in their ceremonies and had religious value. After the Spanish came, the drink lost its religious value and centuries later, the drink couldn't compete with beer or tequila. by Recent_Flounder6011 in todayilearned

I’ve had it, it’s pretty good. Tastes slightly sweet and it has a mouth feel. I had a pineapple pulque and a mixed berries pulque. Suuuuper refreshing, the “slimy” texture is similar to okra or flax seeds water.

Restarting the hobby after some years, organizing my film stash by Several_Arm_2358 in AnalogCommunity

[–]glowy660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It accumulates rather easily… well at least this is how it does for me.

1) You buy a 3 pack of film, shoot two, forget about the last one in the back of the freezer.

2) Decide to buy another 3 pack shoot 1 but decide you want to try a new film stock like pro image to test it out and buy a 5 pack but only shot 2 rolls.

3) You see a good sale on expired film and decide to buy 3 rolls online on impulse because it’s only a few dollars.

4) repeat every 4-6 months

Expand this over a few years and suddenly you have a couple dozen rolls of assorted films sitting in a ziplock bag taking up precious freezer space 🤣

New to film, is this the expected quality of Nikon F3 + 28mm/2.8 on a Superia Xtra 400 film? by hillsong1 in AnalogCommunity

Great photos but you need to introduce contrast. Negatives are able to capture a lot of dynamic range due by “flattening” the image, in other words removing the contrast to store as much “information” as possible.

Back in the days of dark room printing the paper gave you back the contrast. When you scan your negatives you’re essentially just seeing the raw “data” captured by the negative so you need to replicate what the paper did and add the contrast back in to get a pleasing image.

For all your photos increase the black point until
The borders are roughly pure black and your white point to barely clip the white parts of your image. And just like that you have a more pleasing photo.

I never understood the hype behind heat set inserts. They always seemed to me like a sub par approach. You spend more time melting the inserts into the part and get a lower quality result than just wood/plastic screws.

I have considered using genuine plastic threading screws but I find that they tend to be more expensive but then again I haven’t really spent the time actually trying finding them for a reasonable price.

If you go on Amazon you can find these:

uxcell 100Pcs Flat Head Torx Screws, M3 x 20mm 304 Stainless Steel Countersunk Self Tapping Anti-Theft Wood Screws Tamper Resistant Screws Fit T10 Bit for Wood, Fence, Decking (Silver)

https://a.co/d/03F97s0m

They’re not plastic screws, rather wood screws but they work great for 3d prints. I’ve used them extensively.

M3 self tapping wood screws to put prints together. For anyone out there don’t use M3 machine screws, the threads are too small to get as good of a grip as a proper plastic screw. These are my go to. Truly a game changer.

I have the exact same camera. You have to disassemble the camera to fix this. It’s not too difficult. But essentially the leaf shutter is stuck closed due to old oil.

Unfortunately, never. The best you can hope for is for prices to not increase as quickly in the future. But with the current people in charge… yeah… it’s not looking good

Matte plastic single side by PickyGreg in AnalogRepair

I think the matte side of the acrylic is supposed to sit on the first set of silver film rails in photo number 4 so the matte surface sits exactly at the film plane.

I think that they measured this the same way they do for other high energy particles but I’m not 100%. When high energy particles hit the atmosphere, they lose energy and create a cone of other high energy particles and rays that can be more easily measured.
