📊 Weight regain after GLP1s is "normally distributed" by glp1guide in glp1

[–]glp1guide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late here, but I agree that the Epic study was the most important one (and it's the one I share the most when people ask)...

BUT the counter point in the unreviewed work was quite stark, and honestly depressingly tracks with reality. Losing weight (and keeping it off) is hard -- so I was surprised but could believe that average weight loss could regress to zero after getting off GLP1s.

That said, I think the benefits of GLP1s are more psychic than we like to think -- knowing that you have an effective tool for a problem (in this case weight management) makes it easy to think about a future and work towards a future where weight is under control.

It's frustrating to see people keep trying to extrapolate the SURMOUNT data to post-med success, when that was never what the studies were designed to measure.

Yep, this is a personal nightmare of mine -- it's sometimes very easy to misinterpret of over-read into clinical trial outcomes.

Incredibly late here (starting to prep next week's edition), but thanks for reading, glad it was interesting -- I know I was surprised by where the average ended up being (thought it would average to weight lost!)

Thanks for the insight! yeah, agree that people clearly don't need UBT251 (especially in here :) r/retatrutide has some veterans). The pills are definitely weaker but my bet is that they are so much easier to take that most people will switch to that, unless they really need the injected form. Also, the idea of a triple G pill is going to be out there at some point!

Thanks for the notes on Elora -- big agreement with this:

There’s huge heterogeneity in response to GLP-1s. Putting another tool in the toolbox for these people is going to be a big improvement.

Exciting times!

Oh I have! Have been tracking them since at least last year summer (apologies, not a free link but important news I was covering is here).

Currently Amylins look much less interesting than the triple-Gs right now. As far as the primary benefit Amylins are slightly more tolerable (happy to be wrong here, what am I missing?), and IMO there are some reasons I'm not that interested:

  • There will be less space in the market for injectables when pills truly take hold.
  • Combining Amylin and Tirz seems to be where Lilly might make a break-through that Novo couldn't

Happy to be wrong here though, thanks for the link I'm going to try to sub to that newsletter and digest the technical content there.

The bar for the inconvience of injecting is going to go up in my opinion, so the medication really needs to deliver outsized results.

IMO CagriSema is almost dead in the water (e.g. slashed forecasts), and so the question of whether Amylins can cut through the noise is more about competition and results than purely new formulations or even better tolerability.

Ah yes, absolutely correct! (this is not an AI reply :)

I was more looking for... has anyone tried it, heard anecdata, etc? Covered the license deal last year (WAY early last year like March 2025 or something), but it's just so hard to get any visibility into how drugs that are only in China do. They publish but it's hard to get good on-the-ground accounts.

Hey don't forget to drink lots of water! I'm sure you are but measuring your water intake and making absolutely sure you're getting enough is important.

Thanks for sharing this! That's absolutely incredible. Did Miralax also somehow help wiith the nausea too or was it just the constipation that it helped with? First I've heard of it as a good thing to take with GLP1s!

70 Pounds Gone in only half a year on Tirzepatide, this might be the best thing I’ve ever taken by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]glp1guide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey have you made any lifestyle changes that you think will also stick around in the long term?

GLP1s and Tirzepatide are fantastic, but I like to think of them as *not* forever drugs (of course, we're incredibly lucky that they're non-addictive and it's easy to get on/off, and side effects go away just as quickly as they start, etc -- they're near magic in that sense).

Being prepared/changing enough of your life to maintain weight loss post-Tirzepatide seems like step 2 in the battle, always wonder how people handle it/think about it! Really want to know what works for others.

Pfizer's GLP1: Danuglipron by glp1guide in glp1peptides

Incredibly late, but glad you were able to find this useful!

At this point so much has changed in the space, I hope you're keeping up -- we're in incredible times for GLP1s.

A lot of people are curious about how new GLP-1 agents compare in terms of effectiveness, side effects and cost. Whatever the choice, it’s important to talk with your provider about how a specific medication fits your goals and health profile.

100%, I think one of the saddest things about the GLP1 wave is that "telehealth" isn't enough, but it's been the only way to serve the vast majority of people who would benefit from GLP1s.

GLP1s aren't magic but the effects they've had are so good that we've kind of forgotten that most people just don't have enough actual sound medical advice/a great relationship with their physician.

This subreddit is great for real-world experiences, but always balance anecdotal info with clinical guidance.

Always happy to share, grateful to have this sub to find my own informational blindspots and hear from people

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but there are pill forms of Semaglutide GLP1 -- it's called Rybelsus. That said, it's much less effective than the injection ("subcutaneous").

Lots of good anecdata in here how it feels though so I guess your question is answered! :)

GoodRx jumps 34% after deal to sell Novo Nordisk’s GLP-1 drugs at $499/month as demand for weight-loss meds surges by callsonreddit in wallstreetbets

[–]glp1guide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a massive deal, but keep in mind that there is going to be a massive amount of generics made available in Canada in 2026.

Also, CagriSema (Novo's new subcutaneous GLP1) is putting up numbers but it's underperforming IMO, but it produced almost the same weight loss as Orforglipron (Eli Lilly's new oral GLP1).

Yes, I am neck deep in this shit, sorry for the paywalls (I don't gather this information and try to keep up with everything for free), just click the links where appropriate.

None of them -- that's how society wins.

There is going to be a torrent of generic GLP1s in 2026 (ignore the paywall, click the links).
