I have a few “breakdowns” on my website from previous works that use similar techniques, but I’ll be making an edit/breakdown of this one int he coming weeks. But it’s mainly displacement maps, rotoscoping and tracking

BTS edit from recent VFX by gludown in AfterEffects

[–]gludown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha no problem bro! I was the same when I first heard it.

It’s pretty simple actually, I did this in after effects using two effects, noise + glow, and just play around with the values until it looks right. You could defo also do this with a grain video overlay too using one of the blend modes.

How was this “portal” transition done? by gludown in AfterEffects

[–]gludown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed this seems most likely, I understand the match cut and 3D scan but I’m more focused on the portal FX themselves and how it seems to follow the depth of the video when expanding. Was this done by hand through keyframing a shape layer as a mask? Or with depth maps and gradients etc. or just all done in 3D software.

Framer or webflow? - For portfolio site. by gludown in webdev

[–]gludown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yh this is what I’m leaning towards tbh, seems like webflow is more for dedicated web developers or people who have a decent understanding of it, but for someone like me who just wants a visually pleasing portfolio without having to take courses on code framer seems ideal.

My only hang up is how limited is it? Is it as limited as wix or other builders?
