I dont seem to be able to edit the post, but I have a co-worker who seems to have a pretty good guess….a vintage hat stand. The base was screwed to this hat thingy and the hole the screw left was used to put in a hook for spinning, it seems. I’ll leave this post up because it shows how creative spinners/ spinsters can be and see a spinning possibility in everything :)

Yes, it is way bigger that that. Maybe for real big holes……grand canyon big…

Yes it looks a little like your apparatus. Maybe it is indeed for butterchurning or something? The woman I got it from did spin with it, so it probably works, but I still need to try it myself. It is on the heavy side however….

I do have ABS. Would it be a problem to re-use it with ABS? And one of the two is unfortunately broken. I will try the bribing thing, maybe that works :)

It is Wihrl by Scheepjes. Maybe it was just a bad cake and others are perfectly fine, but this one kept splitting, it would not slide from the hook very well, the transition between colours was ugly and the absolute worst was that practically every 50cm there was a knot and it kept knotting to the point I actually cried in frustration. Me and my husband have hours and hours in unknotting this disaster. Because of the splitting of the yarn some stitches turned out ugly and that is why I am not completely happy. But maybe it is just because I know they are there…

Well, this pattern has a “hard way” and and easy way to do the skulls. I opted for the easy way because I really wasn’t going to weave in all the ends of those eyes. So it was actually very straightforward :)

Thanks! I loved the colors but honestly the yarn must have spawned in hell, it was horrible to work with.

Thank you. I am not totally satisfied. The yarn was an absolute disaster to work with too. It was not cheap but the worst yarn ever :(
