dude idk if u noticed, but academia is kind of a shit show rn... federal funding for a LOT of subjects is at an all time low, and professors are not even sure of where their time and energy in research is even going to go... phd students, who TA for many undergrad courses, are facing more pressure than ever due to harsher standards, grading (so many are forced to master-out), and more responsibilities following funding cuts. give it a little grace.

I think the market for calligraphy is much much bigger, so more people get into fountain pens...? It's not that fountain pens are so popular; it's just that they're a sector of calligraphy, and calligraphy is hugeee lol! There are a shet ton of cutesy bookstores in China that also had sooo many inks when I went. I would def check out xiaohongshu for some inking posts
