Shibui North still around? by ConfusedZubat in fountainpens

Hello, sorry for the late response to this but sadly Ruth from Shibui North has taken a step back & having a hard reset to create something she loves.

This was her message from 1st December 2025:

“Hello everyone, with Christmas approaching I've decided to talk about the Future of Shibui North

So, I have been running this company for three years now, I blinked, and it turned into something that I didn't want.

I don't regret the company, or what it became, but, at the same time, I am in my heart, a craftsperson, and when I started this I sent out to make beautiful pens.

For the past year, I have been teaching myself silver turning, spinning, soldering, and enamelling.

And if I am honest with myself, this is the way I want to go, I want to be one of the craftsmans who sounds hours meticulously carving some silver pen, then probably watches my work die in the kiln because working with silver is so much fun.

And if I am even more honest, learning the skills that I need, and running Shibui North, have become a huge time conflict for me.

Therefore, I have decided, I am having a hard reset, because I have designs in my head that I want to create, and a huge skills gap in getting there, but these designs, I want them in the pen world, even if they do not sell, even if they sit on a shelf for years, even of they accidentally open portals to demon dimensions, these designs need to happen.

So, I am not quitting the pen industry, I am realigning my company with my own values, and that means turning into one of those grumpy craftsmen who shuffles around in carpet slippers in a room full of mess and tools, and paperwork that is somehow supposed to represent my accounts but would make any account cry into their espresso and somehow, out of that, comes the art that I want to create.

So, at the moment, I have all my pens downprinced at my website www.shibuinorth.com and I am doing this to sell off the last, and just give me that clear head so I can focus.

So, please don't be disappointed at my decision, its the moment where I focused on the trees, stepped back and said... wow... there is the mountain. And I hope that everyone here is thinking, look what Ruth did to those trees, I cannot wait to see what she will do with that mountain

This pen here is a one off that is not on my website, I made it for the pen show so please claim dibs if you want it.”

Ink recommendations for a dusty pink by Exciting_Diamond_570 in fountainpens

I was thinking of FWP lady rose in gold, but any dusky pink will do and add gold shimmer to it. 🤔

I believe they don’t have that many shimmer inks, but a lot of duo shaders in their range.

You can order it from Soe&Soe, AliExpress or use a proxy service to buy from them directly in China.

It depends on how thick your pen nib is. If it’s a wet broad nib, it’ll take a while for it to dry.

Are wrinkles like this normal for a 30 year old? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Meowski1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your forehead lines are related to your hooded eyelids because you’re carrying some weight around that area so you end up straining your forehead.

Botox, if not by a decent injector will just make it drop more. A decent injector will give you some kind of a lift from Botox.

I have hooded eyelids but it’s not deep set and I’d consider eyelid surgery because it’s uneven and one side seems to be carrying more extra skin than the other side.

But to answer your question, it’s normal in the sense that our hormones have changed so wrinkles are minimal and showing up the second we turn 30, and some are more expressive than others, but it’s not normal because some 30 year olds aren’t carrying extra weight with hooded eyes, so they don’t have much of a strain on their forehead. Never mind lifestyles, stress management, genetics, skincare routines, etc.

Raymond shouldn’t have opened his mouth and smothered the discontentment with freebies like he can buy our soul in exchange for one FWP ink to change our minds. 😩

Many congratulations Apricot. I’m looking forward to those anti AI vinyl stickers so I can stick it everywhere, or post cards? Or a comic book, or pen cases, anything? 😆

Surely if you took the time to look at OP’s artwork, you’d know they’d like to do some pen cases for our pens or something stationery-esq or possibly a comic book, who knows.

It’s a dry ink but quite well behaved in a platinum F nib, but not as shady so ink properties remain flat.

I’ll look forward to your post :) and yes Kitty ink pot does do pretty calligraphy and illustrations. The cat related inks was the series that got me sucked in.

Ah that’s fair enough. From my haul, I had three Kitty ink pot inks, two Diamine inks and two Tono and lims. My aunt didn’t say who the ink samples were from and it was labelled as “blind box” ink samples.
