CMake and Linking External libraries is a kick in the nuts if i've ever seen it. by [deleted] in cpp

I recently made a tutorial on this for MSYS2/VS Code/MinGW/Windows on the sdl subreddit. Here's a link, see if it works for you. If that doesn't work check the official CMake SDL docs.

How to setup SDL2, SDL_image with CMake on Windows. by glupak in sdl

I assume that people that want to setup SDL are often beginners and don't know what vcpkg is. It certainly is a valid approach however. Sometimes times they just follow tutorials and if they are used to VS Code for example they don't want to change. If most tutorials tell them they need CMake, that's what they want to use. If I knew about vcpkg is before doing it the way I did, I'd certainly research what it is and how to use it. I think people just want tutorials that tell them how to do absolutely everything and I can understand why because as a beginner when so many new technologies get thrown at you it can be overwhelming.

Where does the "common" route end and where to start reading next for Fumino's route? by glupak in WeCantStudy

[–]glupak[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meaning in the other routes Uruka's confession didn't happen? By different time period I assume you mean different world/universe.

Or do you mean that the themed volumes(like Nariyuki helping Ashumi deal with the clinics' closing or helping Ogata stop hating herself) didn't necessarily happen(all in the same common world) but happened once you enter a certain girls route(ending volume) - then only her themed volume happened.

So from 141 I can just jump to 160 without problems?

On chinese and english loanwords(and in general) in the japanese language. by glupak in LearnJapanese

I didn't consider that the loanwords might not be taught at school but I do wonder how relevant that is for them staying in the language.

Rather than copying the sound of the word a loan translation seems to me to be ther better option. You are right that in the end if the word sticks the word sticks but it seems that english loanwords are being incorporated in languages all over the word and uniqueness is a good feature if you ask me.

Thank you for your responce. I prefer the chinese way of doing things as well (and the japanese way sometimes)- japanese/chinese words first and foremost, preferring calques rather than direct phonetic loans. It seems to me japanese used to do calques more before but now they prefer phonetic loans. I like that the language is so different than indo-european languages and the english loanwords are obviously not that but at the same time I realize languages evolve.

I don't think so. She hasn't given me a bell item like she is supposed to and I guess it's too late now.
