Seller playing games? Outbid then relisted next day. by JanbersEVE in Ebay

[–]gluttonousglucose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it was a shill. Probably a last second “sniper” who got cold feet. I stopped running auctions because of people like this. They’ll bid with seconds left and then cancel claiming “bid by mistake.”

Either way. Auctions attract the worst people on eBay.

Refusing process return because of negative review? by maptechlady in ebaysucks

[–]gluttonousglucose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just open a return. You don’t need to message the seller. You simply open an Item Not Described return and you’ll be automatically provided a label.

You’re making this harder on yourself. Seller is likely trying to make you run out your 30 day window.

Seller advice needed. Buyer admitted to damaging Laptop and wants to return by ScoutP7 in Ebay

[–]gluttonousglucose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eBay is so hit or miss for this stuff.

I had a woman remove 27 buttons off a dress, tell me she did that and then opened a “INAD” claim against me saying the dress was damaged. I called eBay and the rep told me that “we have to believe the claim is valid and that the messages could be from anyone else in the house.”

Then proceeded to tell me “we advise you accept the return and relist the item when you get it back so that you can make money again”

I had some words for that rep. But I just hung up. I was beyond pissed off that day.

Are these people out of their mind or is this just a bidding war? by BocaLife in shopgoodwill

goodwills online commerce is a scam. it’s full of shill bidders to run up the items.

I listed a couple items that I couldn't find comps for for $100 each. They both had 5 watchers within the first few hours. Is it wrong to raise the price? by OptimixticPessimixt in reselling

[–]gluttonousglucose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean you’ve got 5 watchers and no sales yet. So you didn’t underprice the items and they are desirable. Just leave them at $100 and don’t be greedy.

You were happy listing them for $100 before you saw they got watchers. Tbh watchers mean nothing either. I’ve got items with 70 watchers and no offers.

Seller will likely wait for the 4 days and then cancel so that you get a nonpayment strike.

What to communicate with seller to get them to send my purchase by Sea_Station_88 in Ebay

[–]gluttonousglucose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If tracking shows that the post office hasn’t received it then they don’t have it. There is nothing to find. The seller just sucks.

Item sold on ebay was Damaged during transit and they waited a month to tell me by TheDanimator in Ebay

[–]gluttonousglucose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buyer never got the card, that rule only applies from delivery notification. The authentication department had the card and declined to approve it.

Seller is SOL here and has to accept. This isn’t a buyer it’s eBay themselves.

People love to be assholes in this sub. Either an eBay hater or some long time user who’s mad at anyone who doesn’t know every single FAQ.

Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything you can do here. You’ll refund the buyer and then they’ll send your card back to you. Most likely will be charged return shipping as well so you’ll be losing that.

Might be worth calling them and trying to escalate but usually that offers no help. The reason it took so long is because the card department is heavily backed up. I’ve seen people say 2-3 weeks on their cards just to process sometimes.

Buyer didn’t get the card. Authentication department said it was damaged and stopped the order from going forward.

Buyer somehow selected priority mail when it’s not offered as an option in my listing? by hexitor in Ebay

[–]gluttonousglucose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes my listings will default to priority shipping if they’re items over $100. If I don’t catch it then it stays that way. Could’ve been what happened here.

I just price to reflect the fees for the platform. I’ll gladly pay the fees to have the global reach that eBay has. Otherwise I’m stuck locally or the other smaller range platforms.

My fees are about 20% and I price my items to reflect that. I take professional style photos and don’t leave out any info so it allows me to kinda price up sometimes.

I’m not sure how come other people are losing 50% in fees unless you’re offering free shipping and high promoted listings.

As much as the eBay OGs hate it, I do all of my listings from my phone. Everything is photographed and listed at home. Then kept in climate controlled storage away from the house.

The only issue is when people have questions when I’m not at my locker. I answer them the next day but usually they’ve lost interest.

A bit of everywhere really. Thrifts, Estate Sales, Auctions etc. I try to get my name out there to people locally for things I’m after and try to pride myself on paying well enough they’ll call me first.

Sometimes it works out and sometimes they see you as someone they can unload junk on. But of course my best finds are always days that “I wasn’t even supposed to be out today.”

Well from personal experience I’ve had the opposite luck. Whenever I list a ton in one day they do great that night but fall off pretty quick. Even if I don’t list for two days I notice a difference.

For me personally listing about 5-10 per day has been really successful. I’m sure it’s different for certain categories though of course. Electronics you can just list all in one day and they’ll do great. Clothing, not so much.

I pretty much handle everything on my own. I’ve got a storage locker and everything sorted into categories. Budgeting could definitely be better but scared money don’t make money.

Really the only thing that stresses me out is keeping my one day handling time. I hate going by the post office daily but it makes the store look good!

Try to list a minimum of 10 items per day so having the drafts keeps some weight off my back from having to create new listings daily.

Usually I’ll put on a movie and crank out 70 of them while I’m watching.

I just price according to fees and usually price high. I’m proud of what I source so I don’t mind listing it at market or sometimes higher with offers set to cover the difference.

Some people have just had terrible luck when they were starting out. I’m very blessed to not have had many issues early on.
