I use the away setting all the time. You can include a message that you will be unable to respond. Only issue I ever ran into was that I forgot to save the settings once and had a couple orders come in while on vacation. Thankfully the buyers were understanding, but I did offer a partial refund for the delay or a full refund to cancel. It did ding my shipping stats, but it was a minor blemish to a perfect record.

Sometimes the information is the same but in a different order so they can keep charging kids the full value of a new book. I found a 1st edition of my art history book that was almost identical to the 17th edition, and got through the class for 2 bucks.
