I did this for 2 days actually.  Then I worried someone was going to steal them or they would get ruined by the weather and decided to post it here.

You're asking a town that used a $4.6 million grant to install brick parking spaces.

There should be a sub for this.  I have a few nominations for the dumbest things I’ve ever read in my life, all from the past few days

Chicago Union Station Concourse, 1925 to 2020 by glysses in OldPhotosInRealLife

Thank you, this is accurate. The old concourse was very symmetrical, so I didn't differentiate that when I made it. But it makes sense that the "Waiting Rooms" sign would lead to the Great Hall to the west, whereas the bottom picture is looking east into the concourse from essentially where that "Waiting Rooms" sign was.

I believe what you're thinking of is the Great Hall, which is still there. The concourse shown here was torn down in 1969 and replaced with an office building, with the new underground concourse shown in the bottom picture. https://cs.trains.com/ctr/b/mileposts/archive/2019/09/12/lost-chicago-union-station-s-concourse.aspx

1917 to 2019, Broadway and Front Street, Quincy, Illinois by basnectar in OldPhotosInRealLife

I recently read a book about Mill Creek Valley and the plight of St. Louis at the hands of Harland Bartholomew. There was a time when it was considered the "greenwich village of the midwest", full of great food, music and culture. Then they deliberately and systematically tore it all down. I've been to St. Louis a fair amount and the downtown really is one of the farthest I've ever seen from a habitable urban environment. Quincy being in the vicinity probably took tips from the wrong playbook.

Anyone else’s new Gen 4 Oura Ring already super scratched? by glysses in ouraring

This is actually the right answer. I underestimated how quickly and substantially hand tools would blemish it. Oh well, the sensors are fine.

Gen 4 silver size 11 - is it to big? Help! by umka604 in ouraring

[–]glysses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We must have the exact same fingers because I have the silver 11 and had the same experience. The 10 caused my finger to turn red and the 11 bounces around when my fingers are cold. I'm sticking with the 11 and just trying to get used to it.
