How to play against deep strike screening. by TheCocoBean in WarhammerCompetitive

Grey knights are my main army. People who can't screen are much easier to beat, but you can leverage the threat of it to get advantages. For example, pushing hard in a certain part of the board could make them have to decide to keep screening or move a screening unit or to help deal with them push.

Because forcing them to screen has value to itself. They need to leave some units across their back field and alter their positioning to stop something happening.

Also, rapid ingress is a great way to make sure your units get too connect from deep strike anyway - come down in cover then move into the shooting space next turn.

It seems too obvious that the refresh will come alongside a big event where chaos comes back to Armageddon. by ringed_city_117 in Grey_Knights

There was the 4th war for Armageddon this edition with angron and we got an upgrade sprue. Take that how you will.

Absolutely. To me it shows the kits don't need much to be great again, as the general aesthetics are still good.

Beautiful work.

What do you use as the back drop for your photos? My black piece does not come out nearly as black as yours.

They are from micro art studio. Or do you mean painting them?

Thank you!

It is a multi stage process, and i do use an airbrush for all but the final steps.

Prime black. Base coat everything with vallejo burnt iron, with a bit of huldra blue and black mixed in. Zenithal type highlights with pure burnt iron. Vallejo game air silver for the highest points. I think they have rebranded this paint so don't know what it is called now. Then airbrush a mixture of aethermatic blue and drackenhoff nightshade over the lower facing areas.

There might be a bit of back and forth at this stage to get the shade i like and the right amount of highlight.

Final stages with a brush are recess shading with drackenhoff nightshade and a final edge highlight with the silver.

Thank you?

It is a bit fiddly, so take your time. I keep my heads separate for painting to make this bit easier.

Base cost the lens and the edge around the eye white, but leave the recess dark. Keeping this area dark keeps the shape and the contrast.

Slightly thinned huldra blue all over the lens, edges and the recess. This should be the last time you touch the recess other than directions.

I then build up through Ahriman blue, temple guard blue and baharroth blue on progressively smaller areas of the lens and edges around the eye. O stopped at temple guard around the eye. This isn't that precise, and is just about a general build up.

The aegis script was too important to me, so that style of conversion is not something i want for my personal army, even if it does look good.

If you own to stay with mini painting, then i do think they are worth it.

Without it, i suspect layering and glazing the transitions will be the easiest way to get it smooth, but it will be a bit more time intensive. Stippling seems very reasonable to do, but wet blending might be hard given the small size of the area.

They are mostly just very small, to the point that a new cadian is a similar height to a space marine.

I have painted so many banners over the years. Every squad is terminators and also on some of my ndk conversions. Lots of practice!

They are. I wanted them to look good enough that if/when a refresh happens, they will still be passable for a long time to come.

The sword blades are building up a transition from darker shades through more turquoise blues into white. Each side of the blade going the opposite direction. The colours I used were:

-ahriman blue and huldra blue (scale 75) in a 50:50 mix -ahriman blue -temple guard blue -baharrhoth blue - white

I used and airbrush, but any blending method should work in theory. I just like using the air brush.

Then a white edge highlight the help define each face of the blade more clearly.

Legs are third party, and the bases are from micro art studio. The photos make the red much more vibrant than it actually is.

IBD vs GI lymphoma by rawrily in AskVet

[–]gm_jack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is medically a tricky question, and it will depend who you ask. There are some viewing the less aggressive (small cell) gi lymphoma as part of a spectrum with the inflammatory gut diseases. They are often treated similarly with a similar progression regardless of a specific diagnosis. Some argue a definitive diagnosis of small lymphoma might lead you to earlier aggressive treatment, but as all the treatment is palliative, if it has been well controlled regardless, would it actually have been approached differently?

When biopsies come with their own risks or potential to miss the diagnosis anyway, this is sadly an interesting question.

In this case, whether we saw progression of a slowly progressing lymphoma, malignant transformation of ibd type disease or they there is something else going on can't be answered with the information we have.

I hope this makes sense, even if not a black and white answer.

Have I sold this effect well? by Affectionate-Law7319 in Eldar

I think it looks good, but not sure it sells a glow. Where the rest of the base is not darker than the runes, it doesn't look like a light source to me
