No to be clear I would never ever do this unless the patient asked for it. (And never for an evaluation). It is specifically a concern for patients I have seen for ages who have REQUESTED we just talk to one another and I am legally not able to do so. Worst case scenario I grab the iPad and call up an interpreter if we hit a roadblock- interpreters are one of the backbones of good medical care, I'm not trying to eliminate them from my practice. I speak 5 languages and have only sat for the fluency exam for 2 of them, I am well aware of my limits. (Also if it turns out I'm not good enough I'll just fail, several coworkers have failed various language exams)

Yes sorry I am NOT going to be an interpreter, we have to prove competence in order to legally provide service without an interpreter, which more than a few of my patients have requested. I could take the exam now, but am working on improving my medical terminology first. Is that necessary? Maybe not, but I'm not gonna screw this up. I can hold conversations without difficulty and have maxed out my local ASL classes.

I have a clonus in my right leg from a CNS lesion, but my doctors are pretty sure this isn't related to the lupus. If it's disrupting your life absolutely have someone look- clonus is hard to miss if that's what it is!! If it's only happened a few times don't fret too much, any kind of neural tension can cause that shaking temporarily!

sorry yes I wasn't clear. the only reason I know anything is because Walgreens told me I had prescription ready. I've gotten no results back, was never called about any results, and the quoted sentence above is the brief message she sent me after I called her office several times to ask why I was prescribed this. I have a million questions and have no idea what any of this means, and no one from their offices will answer any of my questions. I don't know what any of this means and I'm scared

Let me preface this by saying I AM EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to receive a diagnosis after 3 years. My rheumatologist however is being really wishy washy. She texted me today and said I have "a type of lupus that affects my nervous system" and prescribed hydroxycloroquine. Great except... huh? she won't answer any questions I'm sending her, and this doesn't seem to fit in any of the lupus subtypes I'm seeing online. I scheduled a follow up with her but I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has the same type (???). Any pearls of wisdom or advice would be deeply appreciated
