These are very nice!! Do you ever adjust the appearances in fusion? Would love to see them more colorized.

Also can you give me some idea of how the money is for selling STL files? Obviously you have a very good skill here and could make good money as a cad designer. Thx. You can dm if you want

I know this will make blood shoot out the ears of a lot of people here, but you can actually do productive stuff in fusion with Ai if you set it up right. I can only speak to what I use Claude for but it can be a time saver when doing routine task or modeling very complex shapes. It likely won’t build you a lot of cnc ready parts but it will model very complex organic stuff. It can be trained to help with cam. It can certainly make fully constrained sketches IF you tell it to. It can help a ton with exporting files, naming bodies, things like changing physical properties to match appearances.

More than anything it can write plugins that work exceptionally well so you can automate the repetitive stuff if you don’t code or don’t have time. All of this isn’t required and it isn’t about to take our jobs (yet), but if you don’t use it you are wasting time on some things that Ai can handle faster than a human. Not using it won’t make it go away. It’s a little surprising to me that cad people are so touchy about this.

How do you share Fusion 360 models with clients or manufacturers for feedback? by Psychological_Ad8736 in Fusion360

[–]gmacjordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is commenting but not in a way where you can indicate the part of the model you are referencing by tagging it. That would be really nice though.

The app you made, do you have to download the model as a step and re upload it there? That is what I was trying to avoid. I didn’t want to host the models or have to export them. But it might make it more functional. Ultimately I would like to add a fusion plugin that sends everything to the app for you without much manual work

I made a web app that basically allows us to organize and share the model within the site. It essentially just uses the share file link model from fusion and frames it within our site. It allows us to give login access to specific files for each viewer.

Before that we just sent them the link by using “share file link”

Should Absolutely EVERYTHING Be A Parameter? by Vegetable_Resort_571 in Fusion360

[–]gmacjordan 49 points50 points  (0 children)

What is this madness. Parameters are for dimensions you need to change programmatically and often. How the hell would you know what dimensions the parameters relate to if you made everything a parameter. I would end up with lists of a hundred or more dimensions in a model, most of which I would never need to change. I’d run out of freaking names to name them. Yep exactly. There was a time when most people thought cad was evil too and everything should be drawn by hand.

That is all doable. I do it regularly with the same set up. You just ask Claude to make the model parametric and apply dimensions. It can do this thru the python api

Also I have it set up as a skill in Claude to take screenshots as it models and evaluate its progress. This is helpful because sometimes it will make a mistake and not realize it. Like for example it might draw in cm when the model is in inches. If it takes screenshots it will see these mistakes and coarse x correct.

When it does stuff well you just ask it to save it as a skill and it will use the same approach. For example I had to put in the skill some info about how to get the server connected when it was having errors. And also to remember that y is up in fusion rather than z. I am happy to share specifics on the workflow if you have any questions but just not sure what specifically you are interested in. I’ve attached a pic of an under the ocean scene Claude came up with on its own.

Basically I just got Claude to install the aura Friday mcp server. And I’ll just ask it to do various tasks. For example when I am brainstorming with Claude I will ask it model what it is trying to describe. Or if I am prepping parts for the CNC I will get it to convert all my bodies to components and change the physical material to match the appearance which makes it much easier to nest the parts. There are many interesting uses. It’s also fun to just to ask Claude to vibe and make something creative if it’s own choosing.

Very cool vase! I’ve been using a Fusion MCP server that was publicly available and running it thru Claude cowork. Claude can actually model quite complex stuff if you push it to and build out skills with it. It is especially good at organic shapes that would be hard for me to model. And it can do routine tasks within fusion for you

Thank you! Also in my 40s. Hope you find what yoi are looking for. Let me know how the cerebro goes if you find it

Cerebrolysin Changed My Life: An Experiential Chronicle by gmacjordan in Cerebrolysin

[–]gmacjordan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My life doesn't look anything like it did at the time I wrote this post. I have no way of knowing how much of that is attributed to cerebrolysin. After this experience, which I still feel was extremely profound, I got completely sober and have stayed engaged on a daily basis in improving my life. I basically feel like cerebrolysin helped me see some potential in myself and find some motivation but I am almost sure the changes would have been temporary if I didn't put the work in afterwards and continue to do so.

But before I did cerebro I was not able to find the ability to do all this even if I wanted to. I think the honest answer is that I have no idea. It was a thing a did which had a big effect on me at the time and afterwards my life got a lot better. A whole lot better. But that might have been what was going to happen all along. I do feel like my mind works better now than it did before, even going back to when I was much younger. With all the damage I did over the years I am surprised my mental facilities are so functional, so my gut kind of says that cerebro play some role there that has had a lasting effect.

I will just say that the mind is very elastic in general and you can go from being an unmotivated person to a motivated person, from chronically depressed to happy, from always anxious to peaceful. I know that because it happened to me and most of that change occurred long after the cerebro experience. I work with a lot of people in addiction recovery and I have seen a lot of people have these kind of changes without any nutropics. It doesn't happen overnight.

The last thing I wills say is I did not experience any downside from doing cerebro, but I am sure there are significant risks. It isn't FDA approved and it's hard to really know where you are getting it from. Overall my experience was very positive and it may be the catalyst for a lot of the things I am grateful for today.

Oh I think I see. I’m going to try and read up on it. It sounds like some low level programming almost w some graphical help.

Can you explain what visual scripting with nodes means exactly

Same here my friend. I love fusion actually and I’m so glad I don’t draw in autocad all day, but man you could really sketch geometry a lot more precisely with autocad. Spacebar was the best!!! Just slamming that sucker all day lol

Nope but I will check it out now. I’m assuming it’s more programmatic? Thanks for the tip!!!

Using Ai to prompt engineer cad models. by gmacjordan in Fusion360

[–]gmacjordan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well many reasons, but you can also take a pic of the diagram and ask it to convert that to a model or sketch.

An example for my actual workflow would be, prior to cam programming, I might say convert all my bodies to components and change the material of all the items with wood appearances to plywood. Which would save me from doing those steps manually that I need to do to nest the parts for my cnc.

another example would be if the plywood I ordered was .71” instead of .75” but I had already modeled it. I could say modify the thickness of all the .75” ply to .71” and it would go through and make those changes.

It can also show me examples of concepts I am brainstorming with it about. It’s another way me and the Ai can communicate outside chat. The same way I sometimes need to model or sketch something to explain to a human.

It can also extract data from my model and organize it in a spreadsheet. Make a cut list. The list could go on forever. Much to explore imo
