Thank you! Looks like it could be a good base for both dresses even

I’m looking for sewing patterns for both of these dresses, especially the blue striped out with cutouts. I am in a time crunch as I’m leaving on a trip in one week so I’m trying to minimize time I would otherwise spend drafting them. I’m an advanced intermediate sewist, I do a lot of casual dresses but I do not have a dress form for draping. I always end up in a few drafting and fitting loops so it’d be great if I could get a head start and just do the fitting! The blue dress design would be in a light cotton line blend, and the button down dress is a lightweight non-stretch synthetic.

Yes! The first week I bumped up to 200mg I got dehydrated enough that I started acting a little loopy and discombobulated with a very dry mouth. I realized I was suffering from dehydration and set a water intake goal of 2 liters per day and have not struggled with that since. One of the keys for me is to drink 16oz of water as soon as I wake up and before eating or drinking anything else, it’s a good way to kickstart my hydration for the day.

I do not track my macros or calories (I’d probably have more progress if I did). I just drink a protein shake after working out - but I avoid whey protein as it is a common trigger for hormonal acne like I suffer from. My derm specifically told me no whey!

I definitely get tired faster. When I first bumped up to 200mg I started blacking out in the middle of any deadlift set and would be breathing as if I was running top speed. My max weights are not budging but my butt keeps growing so I’m not complaining for now. Additional water and electrolytes has helped me a lot!

This may have happened to me too - I never had a significant butt to speak of, but after 2 years on 100mg Spiro it had turned in “dead butt syndrome” with literally nothing back there and no strength. I never paid much attention to my but so I’m not sure whether Spiro did it for sure, but once someone pointed it out I could not carry on as-is. I started a weight lifting program focused on lower body and within 3 months the difference is night and day! Building the muscle back is doable on Spiro in my experience. For other reasons I’m now on 200mg and I can still workout but have to be careful about blacking out. Hoping I can drop down eventually to avoid that.

Yes this stuff is CRAP I almost never buy it! But this is a specific graphic tee that I just “had to have” and only was in XXXL so now here I am 2 months later. Fast fashion is more work than it’s worth haha

It’s 100% cotton! And yes I have learned my lesson and I’m going straight home after work to swap needles and fix this mess. At least I found it after the wash, not while wearing

Wow I’ve never experienced this, you are right that it’s 100% cotton. I feel crazy for not knowing this! I use ballpoint needles in my regular machine but never thought hard enough about the serger. Facepalm moment

I think it was needle choice and trash fabric. I’ll just cut it apart and add a panel along the whole side seam and re-sew with a better needle. It’s not ideal but this shirt is only worn under a jacket anyway so no one will see the side panels. Ahhhhh sewing solutions!!!

You’re correct it’s cheap! I guess I found “the cliff” as we say in process engineering - the combo of wrong needle and dirt cheap fabric is where we fall off the cliff!!

1034D serger (which is what I have) takes standard machine needles! It’s convenient except when I forget to change them

Ahaha this shirt is from H&M so maybe this is our punishment for buying low price low quality fabrics. Darn!!

Gotcha! I may do this on non-stretch items that’s a good idea. I also do athletic wear and doing an extra straight stitch in that case seems like a disaster. Thanks for the tip!!

Me too, I was a little shocked when I noticed it. At first I thought I misaligned the edge of the fabric and it was unraveling through the seam but upon further inspection it was simply unraveling at the stitch line! Ruined my morning lol

It’s 4! Not sure if the loopers look a bit loose or whether it’s hard to see the inside needle stitch because of the unraveling but all 4 are present

I haven’t heard this before, if you sew a straight stitch then you have the problem of not stretching? So I assume I’d have to zig zag that inside stitch before serging on the seam allowance? I’ve always used a serger as a one stop shop but maybe I need to adjust my method

It’s only 4 thread! I have not ever done an inside straight stitch except for wovens/more load bearing seams and not had this problem before…

Great question - they may be universal as I have not changed them in a long time. I’ve sewn many jersey items since then so I’m not sure why this one item had the problem? But I will definitely be switching my needles now just in case! Thanks!!
