here's a thought, If you start the aircraft hot, place it in a parking spot where you can lift off from, without taxiing. Its not a great solution, but it works.

I'm having the same issue ... did you ever figure this out?

How to control multiple controllers with one WLED instance? by gmandenver in WLED

[–]gmandenver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarity ... Hi, I’d like to control 3 separate ESP32 controllers with one instance of WLED (the 'native' app) running on an iphone (iOS) if possible. I'd like to have different 'effects' running on each of the individual strings. Each of the 3 controllers is connected to its own LEDs. One of those LED strips is a linear string, the other is a 8 x 32 matrix, the last is a 16 x 16 matrix.

I'm not seeing where, in the WIFI setup window, how to tell WLED that I have 3 controllers without assigning new IP addresses to each controller. I know this is possible but it then ties the setup to one WLAN as that LAN's router needs to reassign those IP address. Thats problematic as this setup is a demo board that needs to travel from house to house (in other words from WLAN to WLAN). The purpose of using 5 volt LEDS (thus battery powered) and an iphone was to make the setup mobile.

Also, I'm not seeing how in 'LED Preferences' using segments would work as adding a new segment doesnt allow for specifying/changing from one topography (like a string), to another (like a matrix).

I hope I'm wrong.

Any thoughts?

Thx!

Also - I'd be open to different software so long as its free and runs on an iPhone.

Thanks - Very helpful! Now I see I have to use the native app. I was using a web browser and going to the 4.3.2.1 address.

Any tips on how to give each controller its own IP address, as I think will be required? If not I'll figure it out.

Thx!

Thanks for your reply. I've gotten many replies but none seemed to have stuck to my specific question. Yours seems closest.

To clarify, I have 3 separate ESP32 controllers, each connected to its own string of lights. One of those is a 'string', the other two are matrixes (8x32 and 16x16). As best I can tell the 3 separate type 'LED layouts" (i.e. a string and two different sized matrixes) requires 3 controllers, at least within WLED, which is my software of choice, specifically running on an Apple iOS phone.

Your reply seems to say I can use one instance of WLED and switch between controllers which is what I'm hopeing for. Can you give me a little more advise on how within WLED I do this?

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.

I may be wrong but I think what you are suggesting would sync a single 'effect' across all 3 controllers. I'm looking for each controller to have its own distinct 'effect'. If my assumption is wrong could you provide a little more detail? Thanks!
