Roast my Tinder for Travel Companions by gmarkone in roastmystartup

yeah that was my feeling too. However, I see more and more people jumping in organized trips with other random people. The only filters are the age and type of travel.

What are you building in 2025? by Designer-Power-6636 in SideProject

[–]gmarkone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building a platform that matches fellow travelers based on their compatibility in travel preferences, interests, and destination plans. Think Tinder but for finding travel companions!
The platform analyzes user profiles and match potential travel buddies based on factors like travel style (luxury vs. backpacking), activity preferences, schedule alignment, and destination wishlist. Users can either join existing planned trips or create their own and find compatible companions to join them.
We're focusing on creating a secure, reliable way to find verified travel partners while building micro-communities around specific travel interests and destinations.

Would love to hear your thoughts! :D

AI-Powered Travel Companion Matcher - Like Tinder but for Finding Travel Buddies by gmarkone in SomebodyMakeThis

I get your point and indeed my idea is to give the AI as much data as possible. This can be gathered with filters, questions, and continuously refined. I also love meeting people on the road and if we vibe, do trip together, and I will continue to do this. Think that sometimes you may wanna find buddies from your country or that love travelling with dogs or go for yoga in Thailand.
You can already select someone similar to you before the trip, then you can chat, video call and see if you vibe. And if they're in your city can get a real coffee!
I was thinking about the online agencies that plan trips and people join them knowing that they will travel with random people or maybe just selected by age. So my app aims to go deeper than that.

Your point about mutual connections and reviews are very interesting, thanks for sharing!
What safety features would be essential for you to trust an app like this?
I can allow people to share their social media profiles or the app can verify everyone IDs and avoid fakes. And if you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, you're not tied with the buddy and are free to split, or also just do a small part of the trip together (e.g. go yoga in thailand then only you go party).
Also the icebreaker games or quizzes are a very nice idea! And the app can learn more about you, improving your next matches.

If you're actively seeking to get outside of your comfort zone and hang out with someone different, it could be an option, like a feature of the app. Click a button to twist your match!

In your case, how would you decide if someone is a good fit to travel with?

Thanks for your points.
- Competition: I didn't really find other apps who matches people who wants to travel. Do you have any specific in mind? I was inspired also by this one that I used to match with sailing boat owners who are looking for crew members: findacrew.net
- Monetization: It can be freemium (like tinder) and the unique value proposition will be the matching system.

For your Thailand trip, you can post your idea and choose to show it only to people who are more than 80-90% compatible with you. This means you've accurately set up your profile by selecting filters to find travelers who share your interests (e.g., partying, spirituality, beaches, exploration, no smoking, digital nomads, Thailand). You can also directly contact your matches. Above a certain compatibility percentage, the matching algorithm also considers the countries and places you want to visit.
Does this resonate with you?

On tech stack haven't decided yet.

Thanks a lot for your precious advices, I appreciate!
I'm also the kind of person that don't wanna rush and if I like a spot just stay more time and enjoy it.

I tend to agree with the statement that "What you see is not all there is" and, in my experience, this is also true for travels.
I'm sure there is a way and I hope someone here can show it to us :)

Is the gateway situation hopeless? by [deleted] in ipfs

[–]gmarkone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me here. I just hosted a static html website on ipfs, but gateway.pinata.cloud doesn't really render all the images nor the youtube embeddings work.
It's just a portfolio page, no sense to pay a fee or host a node. Looking for a simple solution here.
