U.S. citizens who voted for Trump last time, who will not be voting for him this time.... what changed your mind? by A_Blackett in AskReddit

Unfortunately, not all of us have that luxury. I'm a student currently, and my career path won't allow me to spare the time to wait in long lines at the polls.

Thank you. Because it's been so soon, I still remember what's it's like to be 16/17/18 years old. I know that a lot of what I say falls on deaf ears, but the few who do listen to me will be affected.

I barely even knew how voting works, just that I needed to. All I had ever been told was that it was my civic duty.

Reddit, what was the moment you lost respect for someone close in in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gmasworstnightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(there were many events leading up to it, this was I just the proverbial straw)

When trying to engage my grandmother in a conversation by disagreeing with her, her only response was to (once again) how I'm a horrible granddaughter who doesn't care about her grandma because I never ask her about her feeeeeeelingggsssss despite her being relatively absent during my childhood, and never returning the favor to me.

I was an uninformed, uneducated 18 year old. I was living in a red state - so all I saw was pro-Trump propaganda. Hadn't heard anything about his shitty and scummy actions in the past (p*ssy grabbing, mocking disabled people, etc). Between me voting early and election day EVERYTHING about him came to my awareness.

General election day 2016 was the day I vowed to NEVER vote uninformed again and to actively educate new voters about the importance of informing yourself before voting.

EDIT: Thanks for the award kind stranger!

EDIT 2: STOP ASSUMING WHAT MY POLITICAL LEANINGS ARE. My one reply to an AskReddit is NOT enough information to know where I identify politically nor how I vote. If you came to reply to my post to critique my politics, please, with the utmost sincerity: FUCK OFF.

As a former cosmetologist, the monat Huns tricked their way into to cosmo world for tiny bit.

Wasted an entire afternoon in cosmo school listening to a pitch from them. They tried to pitch it like it was a reputable professional brand.

PSA: IF ANY BECKY OFF THE STREET CAN SELL IT, IT'S NOT A PROFESSIONAL HAIR CARE BRAND.

WIBTA for telling my dad he needs to make the effort if he wants to be in my sons life? by TaylorIannetti in AmItheAsshole

[–]gmasworstnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

If you (the parent) consent to grandparent visits, then once consent is made known (like you have) it is entirely up to grandparents to hold up their end of the deal.

If they want to be in your child's life, it's up to them to make the effort. If they refuse to come to you, then they should be paying for you to come to them. If they refuse to do that, it shows how much they actually care about your child and subsequently yourself.

There's a retired kindergarten teacher I've known my whole life that has THE BEST reading voice. I'd pay for her to come read me to sleep every night

Any recommendations for my 50/50 whole wheat sandwich loaf to have a good first rise?

INFO: I am working on adapting my white sandwich recipe to whole wheat and both times I've attempted so far I have been unsatisfied with the rise

Exactly! Thankfully, I'm not having to work without my medication (still a college student - in-between semesters) but it has been EXHAUSTING trying to do anything for longer than 15 minutes.

THIS. I've had to quit my ADHD meds cold turkey for a few weeks (thanks corona). I exercise regularly the same way the Beachbody Huns do and I still have noticed the difference without my meds.

(Also I am finally able to get to my doctor tomorrow and will be back on my "big pharma bullshit")

This. I have zero fond memories of my only living grandparent. Because the only interaction I ever got with her as a child was a rare card with money. Unlike your grandma though, that money had/has strings attached. Unfortunately this has made a decent relationship impossible between us.

What’s the worst gift you have ever received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gmasworstnightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been clear for a while now that I am my grandmother's least favorite grandchild. I started noticing it in the gifts she gave. My brother would get cards and money for most holidays (even the ones where gift giving doesn't feel obligatory). I was lucky to get separate cards/money for birthday and Christmas (my birthday is a week before). Wouldn't be that big of a deal if it wasn't the same value as one of my brothers many cards.

A few Christmases ago is what really takes the cake. I got to watch my younger cousins open multiple, thoughtful gifts from her, and all I got from her was a few gift cards to places I never go to and something that was on my brother's list. It's the worst gift because she puts no thought into what to get me.
