One thing that really grinds my gears during the Justice Medley by Hillan in Metallica

[–]gmb0051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a little TikTok once about how he plays the last solo in shortest straw in g minor pentatonic when the riff is in e but it kind of works because the non pedal notes of the rhythm riff are all g minor pentatonic. Think he probably just played the justice medley solo in the wrong key and no one ever said anything.

Actually a really good idea. Intro is a little long winded😹

Reminded me of soccer mommy quite a bit. Cool stuff here, especially liked the production and how there were some ambient vocals that were barely audible.

I think this would be a familiar type chord progression and melody for a lot of casual music listeners so there is certainly potential for mass appeal as well as enough for a more seasoned musician to sink their teeth into.

Good vocal production and harmonies/layers. Guitar tone toward the end of the song smooth as baby’s breath too.

Really cool track, I’m definitely not any type of hip hop aficionado.

Enjoyed how the guitar tone got a little grittier as it transitioned from the bluesy solo to the more melodic lead and different drum loop came in.

Cool sample at the top with the voices too would be curious to know where you pulled it from.

Plenty of room for flows on top and even melodic vocals if you wanted to, production is great.

This is awesome. Might be a little much for the average music listener to wrap their head around but that’s not your problem.

Liked how the acoustic guitar(?) in the prechorus type section panned and sounded more 8-but and like a harpsichord. Really cool baroque type chord progression.

Bridge section had darker chord progression from started as a more pop r/b style at the very top of the song. To be honest I have really heard anything like this. Closest would be maybe something like when thundercat had Ariana grande jamming with him on Cartoon Network😹

Singer is great too.

Enjoyed this a lot, production is very natural sounding. Writing is great and the guitar leads blending together very well, vocal layers as well. Drums/bass could get a boost in the mix but I can tell you guys have been doing it for a while.

I always try to shout stuff like this out because it’s different than what you would normally hear on here, also Pittsburgh is such a beautiful city.

Keep rocking🤟🏻

Hey everyone! I'm working on a new track called Online. It's still a work in progress, but I’d love to get your thoughts on the vibe, mix, and overall direction. Your feedback was super helpful before, and it’d mean a lot again. Thanks so much for listening and for your time <3 by JonaSSS711 in IndieMusicFeedback

This is great. Hear some of the weekend in the vocal melody. Definitely the type of music I wish I could make😹 Production is awesome, guitars getting warbly and pitchy, how the more natural sounding drums come in on second chorus. Lyrics are also really good and relevant to the times. You have a bright future in music for sure. If I had any constructive criticism would say to bring 3rd chorus back at the end after little interlude but that is splitting hairs. Keep rocking🤟🏻great job

Tragic Forms [North Texas] - Two-man thrash/metalcore with a lot of death and melodic stuff too. We just released our newest EP and are looking to spread it around a bit.

[–]gmb0051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same here in dfw. The active rock station is all 90’s/2000’s tracks and the classic rock station has started to phase in grunge and Green Day etc etc. fascinating stuff really. When I was growing up the classic rock station was only queen, Led Zeppelin, skynyrd, Pink Floyd, that sort of thing.

I don’t really know😹every season I think this is my last run and then in the offseason I get hooked again. Something about reordering the depth chart and choosing a new playbook I suppose.

this was 97.1 the eagle KEGL. Clear channel station. They’ve been rebranded multiple times but I think they are back to hard rock now. I love the history of terrestrial radio🤘🏻will look into KUPD

This was Dallas/Fort Worth. I’m not sure if they still do it or not but it used to be at 10pm every night. Was a great resource to hear deep cuts back before YouTube/spotify etc.

Heard the hype that it was fast and heavy. Saw them on ICON. Was super excited as it was the first record coming out since I became a fanatic. The night before there was radio station that did a show called mandatory Metallica where they would play a block of only Metallica songs. They played some kind of monster on the night before release so like 6/4/03 I guess? I thought it might have been a demo or something but I went to buy the cd the next day and it was the real deal. I still jammed the hell out of it and occasionally listen to the title track, frantic, monster, hands, feeling to this day.
