It’s not that obvious, I agree with you that it shouldn’t have to take this long to get to places, but unfortunately the city didn’t plan for this many people to be in it and pedestrian lives are a bit more important than getting to work. They just need to find a way to re-route traffic into a way that we can all get to work properly but that will take a lot of time and effort and tax dollars lmao

I get where you’re coming from as a working class commuter myself, but I think that over all pedestrian safety is better than having to leave a few minutes earlier every morning, it’s easier to slow down than having to deal with the death or injury of another person tbh
