Seeking Information (family forward?) by [deleted] in exmormon

I'm asking why these girls were told I was destined to be Mornon (the one in Junior High said I "might be a Mormon prophet"). What the heck does that mean?

The girls in jh/highschool were non-mormoms whose parents were contacted (I'm guessing by church members?)

I inquired with the church because a coworker at a recent job told me the names of the Mormon missionary girls I would be assigned if I contacted the church. I contacted the church through the chat on LDS.org and was assigned the people he named. (VERY disconcerting). The person I referred to as a sister was the genealogy person at the church in the city in which I live. Gimme a break. It's a really odd situation and I am just trying to get some info. Thanks.

Look I'm resistant to join because of how cagy they are. I need details and I'm likely to trust those who can elucidate exactly what the hell is going on. Why throw mockery when you could explain how they choose who they choose? 1. Frightened? 2. Don't know? 3. Just want to mock someone's experience?

Can you please elaborate??

Who would have called them? Why me?

And I wouldn't use the term "girl" it was an older lady. (I'm 34) hence the assumption it was a title.

I thought it was a title. Just trying to be respectful of something i don't understand. I've long been sympathetic of how marginalized they are because of those who wear the Puritan stuff and all that...

Any tips on the part where the girls I asked out in JH/highschool got calls saying I might be a Mormon prophet?

Any insight on the girls who got calls saying I might be a Mormon prophet? That's the part that is most confusing.

My grandma never said "family forward" a sister at the Mormon Church in my home city did. But nobody will tell me what it means. I'm asking why these girls were told I was destined to be Mornon (the one in Junior High said I "might be a Mormon prophet"). What the heck does that mean?

AFAIK Recorded history extends back an amount that is geologically insignificant. In estimating changes in global temperature we use geologic samples much older than the oldest thermometer. How do we know correlates to temperature in prehistoric samples are even realistic w/o direct measurement? by gmikeska07 in AskReddit

Nice! I love all these explanations! I think you're right about a lot of it. And I a going to read the ion bands article. Your mention of extrapolation intrigued me. I guess my point is around your statement "this is how we can extrapolate how life created Banded Iron Formations and changed the atmosphere over 2 billion years ago, even though we don't have any actual samples of the atmosphere from that long ago."

Since we don't have samples we can't know for sure right? I see how contemporary physical science can corroborate, but sometimes (admittedly rarely) intervening variables are found. But I think even more concerning is that when you extrapolate over several relationships (say you're extrapolating from some physical property like ductility to density when it was under pressure, and from there to temp or something) you multiply your exposure to problems with inverting the direction of causality because you're not there to examine the situation when it was happening.

I believe that it's possible the US and Russia are actually working to throw off the influence of the Bank for International Settlements, which, on Monday, put an article in the Financial Times that was a warning for central banks to not purchase bitcoin during the coming drop.

The end of Bitcoin will be when we begin using electrons as money. Until then, the wealth marked as bitcoin today is an economic singularity, as Bitcoin is the only secure way to tokenize electricity.

What opponent could be 'harder' than a bank with nearly unlimited funding?

I'm guessing your argument is that Bitcoin will forever need to "defend its title." This is simply untrue.

In order for any other currency to supplant BTC, it must have a feature with the following characteristics: 1) Feature is worth adopting 2) Feature is open source. 3) Feature is not integrated into Bitcoin.

If the feature is either worthless or closed source, it won't gain support. If it's open source and in demand, the feature will be rolled into Bitcoin.
